Nikon ZR Firmware 2.00 is coming — and this could be a BIG update for Nikon’s new Z CINEMA camera. 🎥

Nikon has officially announced the development of firmware version 2.00 for the Nikon ZR, bringing several major improvements aimed at filmmakers, cinematographers and content creators.

In this video, I break down everything we currently know about the Nikon ZR firmware 2.00 update, including the new features coming to the camera and what they could mean for real-world filmmaking.

🔥 Nikon ZR Firmware 2.00 – What’s Coming?

• Log3G10 & REDWideGamutRGB support when recording in H.265
• Improved High ISO Noise Reduction control for H.265 Log recording
• Focus Peaking during R3D NE recording
• More flexible colour grading workflows
• Better integration between Nikon and RED
• RED CONTROL & RED CONTROL PRO remote-control support

And that’s not all…

Nikon has also confirmed that it is developing future firmware updates for Open Gate recording and a desqueeze display for anamorphic lenses, with these features targeted for 2027.

Considering the Nikon ZR already combines Nikon’s full-frame sensor with R3D RAW, this firmware roadmap could make the ZR an even more capable cinema camera for filmmakers.

In this video, we’ll look at what Nikon has announced, what these features actually mean, and why the upcoming Nikon ZR firmware update could be such a big deal.
