This is just another great video, thank you! I think I fully understand the mixture setting at idle. However, there is interference from the bi-metallic jet lever. Here is the thing: I have an early Morgan +8 with twin HIF6 carbs. Car was running great under all temperatures (outside and engine). Then the CO was tested with a gas analyzer for (Swiss-) MOT emissions control. It was close to 6 and adjusted down to approximately 3. Idle wasn’t great any more but the car was still running ok except under very hot conditions (I am talking about outside temperatures of 30 and more degrees and bumper to bumper traffic) Then driving off the car becomes a nightmare; blip the pedal and it stalls. You have to slowly increase the revs at around 2000 and then let the clutch slip otherwise it stalls (before setting the CO at 3 you could drive off in 2nd gear from idle at 750 RPM by simply depressing the clutch). I guess this is due to the bi-metallic jet leaver leaning the mixture to much under (very) hot conditions. Is there a way to replace the this jet lever with a fixed one? Thank you and kind regards, Peter
PS: jet bearings, needles and bi-metallic jet levers all new as per SU Reference catalogue, float level as per SU workshop manual etc.

Very interesting video, do you ever work on SUs fitted to engines other than A series?

How best to contact you about getting carbs in for service? Jon in Ohio.

It looks like you use a co tester to check if a car is running rich or lean. What do you recommend i use?
I found a Gunston gas tester or an afr gauge with lamba, and colourtune plugs. Thanks for your advice, Hannes

I'm in the process of doing this on my MGB (standard internals with Pipercross filter and tubular manifold). The standard ACD needles are far too lean and the only way to get the car to perform right is to have the idle mixture too rich. I'll be experimenting with different needles to get the AFR right across the rev range. At the moment if I set it right at idle it leans right off under load and at high rpm.
