I'm 62, and have ABSURDLY high cholesterol. Doc ordered a calcium score. He was blown away to learn my score was ZERO. Then I get people, "well, you could have all soft plaque. Look, I'd rather have a score of zero than 1000. And no, I will NOT take statins doc, absolutely NOT!!!

Thanks for all you do. I'm 77, my fourth CAC scan was 1956, I've lowered the percent raise every year but I'm having trouble cutting out grains and wheat products. Thanks. The Fat Emporer on utube has some great info about the numbers and methods also. I do take D3-K2

Ive eaten a high fat diet, smoked like a chimney, and drank like a fish for decades. Im 65 and went for a calcium scan. All coronary arteries were zero. My cholesterol levels are good,too. I stopped drinking 13 years ago and was kind of surprised at this. Good genetics i guess...

Great info as always. The best cardiologist who does not push drugs that do not work. There would be no reason to deny statins work if they worked. There is every reason for a 1bn per month market to lie to keep the money flowing. This tells me who is right on this. DrDavis is right.
Very good to know that it is always around 20% (calcium of the total plaque) and that CAC can measure the whole plaque as it is always around 20%. This is what they deny usually.

I had a CAC score of 1188 fifteen years ago. The bad part was for a long time I was scared I was going to die any day. The good part was I starting doing everything I could think of to lower my risk: statins, vitamin K-2, etc., etc. So far no “events” but it’s still early in the day.

I've heard other doctors say the stress test is not a good indicator of heart problems. People have had heart attacks soon after passing the stress test. A better test to get is a CAC scan to find out if and how much plaque you might have. There are other tests but they are more expensive. The CAC scan is only about $100 or so depending where you live and usually insurance won't pay for it.
