I'm 6/6 for these Animal Anomalies - how many you seen?

And you missed the main one grey squirrel

Actually, Hares are indigenous to the UK but Rabbits were brought in by the Romans.  So it is not just the English moving animals around.  Romans brought the Rabbits with them when they conquered England because they wanted them for food and we did not have them here.

I've heard a kookaburras in the UK but I couldn't see it I was with a friend and she said 'Isn't that a kookaburra calling?' we were in Surrey at on business and we finished early went for a walk and heard it.  Later I found out it might have come from Bird World in Farnham.

About the parakeets, I used to know a lady whose daughter was in a mental hospital in south-east London and she told staff she was seeing green birds outside. The staff took this as a delusion and put that down on her notes and passed that on to her mother. They lived up further north so it was unusual for her, but I live in south-west London and I've seen them in our garden and I expect they are what she was seeing.

I thought I saw a parrot flying over my garden the other day. Thought I was losing my mind, but now I realise it was one of these ringneck parakeets.

In 1979, I spotted Ring-necked parakeets in Ravenscourt Park. I asked a co-worker if he had seen them when visiting his Mother,  in nearby Goldhawk Road. He told me the parakeets were present in the park fifteen years earlier when he was a schoolboy. I now live in East Sussex and await the parakeets' arrival in my neighbourhood.

The Ringneck Parakeet story is not accurate..  They were the result of mass escapes in the 70's..  I worked in a bird garden in the 70's which imported birds even before they introduced quarantine for birds..  In those days any fool could import birds if they had the money and were competent enough to fill in the paperwork..  I remember having conversations with other importers who lost many hundreds of these parakeets..  The stupidity of these people was mind boggling..   They would import 3-500 parakeets and put them all in wooden framed aviaries..  The Parakeets would chew through the wooden frames and escape..   I remember at least five of these mass escapes of many hundreds of birds..  Two in the north just outside Manchester..  Two places just outside London and one place in the south west..  The birds outside Manchester lasted up until we had a very harsh winter when they mostly disappeared..  These mass escapes allowed the Parakeets to get a breeding foothold in the UK..

One animal in uk that dangers is the flat worm they are echoligacly deverstaing

A small honorable mention I would also bring up , is the golden pheasant since Britain is one of the few places with a decently sized self-sustaining feral population and is a very beautiful bird overall.
And they are running free across the country!
Have you checked them off your animal anomaly list yet?

I spotted some Ring Necked Parrots 🦜 in Chatham, Kent. What drew my attention was the Magpies going mental and mobbing the parrots, chasing them, with both parrots & magpies making a really loud racket.

There is a colony of Wallaby’s in Cannock Chase.

PS: As if the Parakeets weren't bad enough, we now have a herd of 16 African Elephants along the parkway in Hulme Manchester...feel sorry for the commuters...

2:02 There was a massive storm in 1987, which took all our weather forecasters by surprise. I remember Michael Fish, a weatherman, saying that he'd received a message from a viewer to say that a big storm was headed our way, but he pooh-poohed this and assured everyone that all was calm. Cue massive storm in the night, thousands of trees blown over, and aviaries, together with many other structures. So, that's probably the storm you're referring to, as it does stick in my mind.

Back in 90s there was a huge flock of the green parrots down by the river around Hammersmith they colonised several trees on the embankment.

In the 80s I was a police officer working around South Oxfordshire. I frequently saw wallabies hopping around and twice had to deal with road traffic collisions which killed wallabies. They had a habit of trying to outrun cars. Each case was around Watlington, Oxfordshire.

Wild Chipmunks are in the garden centre area next to Alexander Palace near Muswell Hill in London. I saw one over 10 years ago.

As an Australian I get nervous when people talk about how cool it is that exotic creatures are living in an area.  We have had many problematic introductions including rabbits, cane toads, foxes, starlings, carp, tilapia, mosquito fish, domestic cats, deer, pigs, water buffalo and camels.

the parrots are as common as sparrows in Walker, Newcastle , we have a dumb dumb bird in 10 downing street

They’ve been here in The Roaches for decades. Brought over by a chap who thought they’d do great here in the fairly temperate rocky landscape in the North West Midlands, between Buxton and Leek, in Staffordshire/Derbyshire countryside. It’s quite cold, snowy and bleak in winter with it being so high but, in spring and summer it’s beautiful. They seem to love it anyway!!😅
