How I Took This Photo With ONLY a Cardboard Box.

I love certain aspects of analogue photography for its diversity and creativity. The simplest way to create a photographic image is to have no electronics, no inner workings, no lens - just light and time. This video keeps to that theme throughout, and what we end up with is truly amazing. If you enjoyed this content, please consider making a contribution at

After you inspired (GAS'd?) me to pick up the zero, I recently took it on holiday to Whitstable. 12 sheets later, and lots learned (and some pretty good pictures). It's such a wonderfully different process.

Great video Martin. If you make another pinole box camera check with Ranica Cameras. They have a great pinhole shutter system with a built in 52mm thread, and he can make them with 3m adhesive tape so you can just stick it to your box.

I have the same pinhole holder for my Titan. It is freaking good. Not too much vignetting and pretty sharp.

Another inspiring video, Martin. Thank you! The upper area that you pointed out looks like it may be part of the radius of your filter holder or filter. …Just a thought.

Great video Martin! One tool I have started using to help me frame pinhole photos better is an app called Viewfinder Preview. It is fully customizable for any size negative and focal length and will give you the view when you place it at the camera. It also gives exposure info including EV so it is an extra check I use against my light meter readings. I know some people like to guesstimate the framing or they know their camera enough to frame without such an app. But I like the assistance. Especially because when I use such homemade cameras I am also schlepping a changing bag etc to reload in the field.

Hi Martin. Great video and it may inspire me to give the process a go. Just wondering though, why do you use rodinal as the initial developer rather than a normal paper developer?

@HugoFerneyGomez 11 months ago

Hi Martin, another one great video! Did you contact print the FB paper for the same time as the RC, or did you increase the exposure time? Thanks!

Very interesting process, Martin! Could you please tell me which Ilford paper you used? Are the paper in the pinhole camera and the paper for the contact print different? I‘m just wondering how the light gets through the paper. Sorry for the silly question.
Greetings from Germany

How long do you preflash for and what intensity?

Is this camera able to film in 4k Martin ?🤔

Hi - I was wondering if I could ask a question:

After developing my paper negatives, I scan them with my Fuji XT-30. For lack of anything better, I have been taping them to a piece of mat board to keep them flat while I do this.

Is there something I can get to hold the paper that would be better than this make-shift solution? I have various size boxes and cans, so whatever it is should be flexible enough to handle random sizes. (And not cost an arm and a leg :-). )

Thanks
