Add to the list. 1, Expect to be accosted by Tuk Tuk drivers plying for your trade each and every time you go out. They are only doing their job but I defy anyone not to eventually get irritated by this 2, When you see a big white tent go up on a road nearby prepare for 5 days of funeral music on loud speaker, non stop from dawn until dusk. 3, Get used to seeing rats. The streets are mostly lined with litter of some sort and plenty of food scraps from the copious amounts of street food sellers attracts the vermin. Night time is when you see them the most.

Appreciate that you listed several real downsides in your video. However, one major thing that was missing is noise pollution. Central Siem Reap is often quite loud — bars and music running late, local karaoke from neighbors, tuk-tuk traffic, construction, and festivals like Khmer New Year. Even in the quieter outskirts or residential areas, you’ll still regularly hear dogs, roosters, neighbors playing music, and occasional events.
If you’re even moderately noise sensitive or value consistent peace and quiet, it’s very hard to find in Cambodia (or most of Southeast Asia for that matter). True tranquility usually only comes with expensive private compounds, and even then it’s not guaranteed. Thailand spots like certain parts of Hua Hin can be calmer, but they generally cost more and have stricter visa rules compared to Cambodia or the Philippines, where you can stay long-term on tourist visas.
Just something worth mentioning for people who prioritize quiet living.
