They started herding instead of Hunting, bronzing instead of coppering. They built canals and agriculture, kingdoms and empires. We owe the respect and appreciation in stead of genocide and ethnic cleansing.

Thousands of years before Rome, before Greece, before most of recorded history, people in Mesopotamia were already building the foundations of the world we live in today.

Falling asleep to the rise and fall of empires… there’s something beautifully humbling about drifting off with 5,000 years of history.

I feel like I owe the Sumerians royalties every time I check the time. It’s staggering to think that the foundations of our world, from written law to the minutes on our clocks, were built by people we’ve all but forgotten. This video wasn't just a history lesson, it felt like remembering a fundamental piece of who we are.

After watching this, I realized history is basically a big-budget palace intrigue drama! The part where Sargon of Akkad conquers everything to create the first empire was such a boss move. What's everyone's favorite era in Mesopotamian history? Personally, I love Hammurabi's time—the laws were clear, and the rewards and punishments were so black and white!

Just finished this and wow… I never thought I’d drift off to sleep listening to the rise and fall of Sumer, Akkad, Babylon, and Assyria. But something about the way this story is told—slow, rich, almost dreamlike—makes history feel alive.
Which Mesopotamian civilization do you find the most fascinating—and why? Babylon with Hammurabi? Sumer with its ziggurats and cuneiform? Or maybe the Assyrians, fierce and relentless? Let’s share our thoughts, midnight historians

To everyone complaining about ads: it's a YT thing, not controlled by the content creator. Ad-free isn't free... 🤦‍♂️

I like the old scene as you described in the story, life today is too suffocating and dangerous when wars happen, it affects other countries and I just hope the war ends so the world can return to peaceful days.

It’s humbling to fall asleep hearing the story of where civilization began. Long before our worries, our deadlines, and our modern noise — there were rivers, cities, and people simply trying to build something that would last. And in a way, they did.
