I'm not sure if the development team is able to take down links related to Plotagon's software, and while I've only seen one case of a Plotagon version archive being taken down, I'd rather not take any chances. Here's a quick summary to describe the title of the video if you're in a rush, and unlike YouTube's feature to summarise a video using Google Gemini, this summary doesn't use GenAI at all:
"GoAnimate gives me far more control than Plotagon in terms of editing, modding, character creation and audio/visual creations. Even if you exclude modding, the control, or the paywalls, GoAnimate would still be superior, and Plotagon would still be very limited in terms of making and watching videos made with any app of it (especially mobile Plotagon Studio). I'm not saying Plotagon sucks and that no-one should use it, but it's heavily advised that those who want to use it should be aware of the limitations and the impact they can have on your creations (especially if you don't edit them externally through video editing software)."

I managed to find the following pieces of trivia while doing research for this video:
• Plotagon is powered by the Unity game engine. The app contains a lot of files that all start with "UnityEngine" and some assets look like their artstyle belongs in Unity. • The Caillou shirt (known as "The Annoying Shirt") still exists and is fully usable as of 2026.
• The Android package name of Z-Cut is "com.plotagon.sugarcake". For Plotagon Story, it's "com.plotagon.plotagon", and for Plotagon Studio, it's "com.plotagon.studio".

New notable things that I discovered since this video was made:
• I noticed that Plotagon Story was about to be removed entirely from the Google Play Store (not the iOS App Store yet), and not only that; all subscriptions will expire by the end of May, and while you could technically still use the app after it's removed, uninstalling it permanently locks you out of using it through official means.
• Z-Cut's final update was in 2024, whereas it was pulled from both app stores in 2025. That's what I mean by it lasting only two years before it was discontinued, but I was unaware of the full removal year until three days after this video was published.
• It's possible to access Plotagon Story and even archived versions of Z-Cut on older Android devices but not newer ones (I don't have an iOS device to test this on); trying to do so on newer devices results in a loading screen softlock whereas older versions work just fine. I was able to get a full list of everything that costs popcorn buckets from Z-Cut, which you can find in a reply of this comment.
• There's a glitch that I found with Plotagon Story on mobile where going back to the device's home menu and then back to the app while an ad is playing skips the ad entirely while allowing you to get your additional scene. Plus, trying to add multiple scenes in rapid succession sometimes doesn't make the ad load as the app appears to be rate limited for things like this. This glitch doesn't work in Z-Cut because the app waits until after the ad is completed before giving you the reward, and because the app is discontinued, no ads play at all, meaning no ad-based rewards can be collected.
• You only have to pay for the assets in Z-Cut once after you export your video. After that, you can reuse paid assets for free without having to pay again.
• Exporting your video in Z-Cut does so in a 3gp format instead of mp4.
• You can't make a copy of your video in Z-Cut despite that feature existing with Plotagon Story/Studio.
• I don't think anyone has shown what happens when you export a video when you don't have enough popcorn buckets. If you try to do this, a message pops up, reading as follows: Not enough balance - You do not have enough popcorn balance to continue. Visit the store to earn more!


In case you don't know what generative AI (GenAI or simply AI) means, it's a form of artificial intelligence used to generate text, audio, images and more from generative models. Speed may be the core factor of AI creations but its accuracy is usually heavily lacking due to notable red flags within the creations. GenAI has received controversy ranging from unethical usage like AI-cloned voices from popular voice actors (usually without permission) to making effortless, low-quality content with it, hence the term "AI slop". Some companies aggressively promote features using AI as well - especially phone and animation companies like Samsung and Vyond. Other companies could also be notorious for laying off employees in favour of AI, which would be a very scummy move and incredibly unethical even if it's only one employee fired - this harms the trust, goodwill and positive reputation that company would've or could've had.


I won't be using any form of GenAI with my social media content, especially in relation to GoAnimate. I've seen people ask AI (like ChatGPT, Google Gemini or Duck.ai) for ideas/scripts because they can't come up with any without changing a trace of it, and I refuse to let myself run into the same mistake. AI-cloned voices are also unethical even if they appear to be used in good faith, because if your voice is imitated or deepfaked using AI, you could be accused of admitting to crimes you didn't actually say. That's why I stopped using my real life voice altogether on social media, and opted to use pitch-shifted GoAnimate voices for some characters.

I've seen countless people excessively doompost in regards to AI, meaning that they post negatively about how AI would take over the world or how it's being promoted for age verification nonsense, which I unsurprisingly don't approve of. Let's cut to the chase... this can be denied as much as anyone wants, but we are not powerless against AI.

If a form of AI or moderation bot makes an error when it comes to account management (like your account is penalised/terminated for no reason), take action and appeal the decision when you can, and remember to be patient. You'll eventually pull through in the end; saying that "we lost" or "we are alone" despite clearly winning the fight against AI's wrongful act is a prime example of doomposting - avoid running into this trap. If you fear your art may be trained by AI on some sites, opt out of such systems as soon as you're given the chance, or download all your work and discontinue usage of that if you can't. Putting unique fullscreen overlays over your artwork can help as long as it's not too translucent or too opaque. And finally, if you're at risk of being fired over AI taking your place, stand up for yourself and say that AI shouldn't replace the charm and creative works of humans to your boss. If your points made are sharp enough, they may understand what you're talking about.


Remember to stand your ground in a respectful manner and be patient until the very end whilst having the right mindset; good vibes, not woes and regrets over a soulless decision maker. Don't let the AI-worrying doomposters ruin your day or motivation - you got this 😉

Short answer: Plotagon only supports 2 characters. GoAnimate can have as many as you want (if you're brave enough to sacrifice your performance)

I used to make Plotagon videos like around 6 years ago until I figured out how to get Wrapper Offline. I was originally going to use Wrapper and Plotagon at the same time until I realize that Goanimate have more freedom than Plotagon. In Plotagon, everyone is the same height especially characters that are supposed to be babies, toddlers and children. In GoAnimate, you can change heights.

I'm truly impressed by the depth of your analysis comparing GoAnimate and Plotagon. The main thing I associate Plotagon with is the "rappers" that use this software to make their music videos, like for example Travis Scotch, Submarine Man, Lil Flexer etc...

9:19 also there’s a new app ALSO named plotagon studio (for mobile) which I remember they said you can put more characters. then I found out it was premium or something and yeah it pissed me off. and as you mention the restrictions suck. but the ones from z-cut are even worse lol (yes I actually used z-cut tho my memories are kinda blurry) from what I remember it had a credits system and if you exported a video you would lose some. and the voices were stuck in whatever language your device is too. (or atleast maybe only on android) also from what you mentioned I don’t remember there being a character creator and you could only import other user‘s avatars

I understand many of the problems you have with Plotagon. I used the app a few times throughout my life and it’s so limited, that even I had the same problems with it. Add in the strict free part of it and the fact that you have to pay just to use everything, it’s one big clusterfuck of an app that feels like the poor man’s Goanimate, but way more limited. Great video though!

8:28, Also the first Plotagon logo is actually between 2016-2017. When Plotagon first launched on iOS in 2014, the first one was actually a basic P logo on a pink background.

Not to mention that the company has plans to remove the Android version of Plotagon Story from the Google Play store this month which could affect our channel’s future since we make videos through a Chromebook that is an older model different from the newer versions of Chromebook.

17:05 - You have great points on the Mobile version of Studio. At some point, we have plans to revert to the newly revamped Plotagon Studio app if it supports Android models but these features could be a major problem for us if we do plan to switch our content on there despite the fact on the app forcing us to pay regardless of the limitations you’ve describe throughout this part.

We have to admit that you have great taste and a strong sense of why Plotagon is a major downside for users who stopped using GoAnimate for their content completely, and the way you addressed everything about the Pros And Cons about Plotagon is a Win because the company in our opinions should do better with their overall improvement and over see a major change for requested content since Plotagon Story hasn’t been updated for Android users for a good amount of time now.
