The original Ratchet & Clank marked the beginnings of a long running series which some of us have been more than willing to make even harder with absurd sets of rules. But how about beating this original entry with the series' original gimmick weapon? Today, we see if we can beat Ratchet & Clank with only the Suck Cannon!

DETAILED RULES:
No weapon listed under the "Weapons" menu may be used at any point, other than the Suck Cannon.
The upgraded form purchasable with Gold Bolts (the Gold Suck Cannon) is not allowed.
The Omniwrench may not be used at any point, except to turn bolt cranks.
Anything other than the Suck Cannon capable of dealing damage is considered illegal unless deemed necessary to progress (turrets, vehicles, etc.).
Note: This run takes place in Challenge Mode a.k.a. New Game Plus.
No Challenge Run exclusive menus, options or features may be exploited to complete the run.

As many comments have attested to, Umbris is not the theoretical limit of this run, I just somehow forgot that Ghost Ratchet exists, like a dumbass. The limit, as far as I know, is Drek Phase 2, which we have a start to figuring out.

I'm open to revisiting this run again at a later date, possibly with some altered rules, if there's support for it. I am genuinely curious to see if Drek can be beaten under a different ruleset.

If I did a Suck Cannon only run, I would allow the gold Suck Cannon.

I think the lesson here is that ammo can make or break these runs, so it's time to try a weapon that doesn't need ammo. Oh yeah, I'm talking about... THE TAUNTER

17:28 Actually if you aim the Suck Cannon up high, you can have the projectile bounce when it hits the ground, go over the wall, and into the tower.

I found that out when I was doing my own personal run once that involved not ever using the vendor. Felt like a genius when I figured that out.

Ratchet and Clank is one of my all time favorite franchises and when I found your channel it was an instant subscribe. Love the challenge runs!! Excellent job and keep it up man :)

FYI: On Batalia you have infinite ammo via an enemy spawner on top of the building opposite the tresspasser puzzle at the beginning of the planet. It's easily missed if you aren't looking for it so I can understand thinking you only have limited ammo for the planet.

For future challenges, I would personally recommend playing in NG+. No cheats, no shortcuts, you get the weapon at the start, and the only real complication is in 2 and 3 where enemies scale up in strength and you start with more health and better armor.

14:39 you know, if you use the swing shot targets right as you fall into the mud, you'll be able to obtain G H O S T R A T C H E T. And be able to jump through walls. Including the one that leads to the info bot for batalia. I'm not sure if this really matters considering the rest of the road blocks though lol

By the way on Gemlik Base you can bounce the suck cannon shots by firing straight in the air.
It will destroy the power source

If you also wanted to allow use of the Morph-o-Ray, the chickens it creates can be sucked up with the Suck Cannon. I don't know how much help it would be during the boss fights, but it should at least help with the otherwise impassable planets.

You can skip phase 2 and 3 of Drek's fight as there is a cutscene trigger you can get to via speedrunner tactics. So, this run is possible to do in ng+ by using glitches to get to triggers.
