*AMERICAN REACTION TO TOMMY JOHANSSON'S "YOU RAISE ME UP" HIGH NOTE 🇸🇪🎤 | SWEDISH REACTION | EUROPEAN MUSIC REACTION*
🎬 Today's American reaction is one for the books — I'm reacting to Tommy Johansson performing "You Raise Me Up" and hitting an insane first-octave high note that left me completely stunned. This Swedish reaction video was a Buy Me a Coffee request from a viewer named Karina, and wow, she was not exaggerating when she said this was going to be one of the best high notes I've ever heard.
🇸🇪 If you don't know Tommy Johansson yet, he's a Swedish rock star and multi-instrumentalist (allegedly plays 11 instruments) currently fronting the band Majestica, and previously known for his work with Sabaton. In this performance he's on piano instead of his usual guitar shredding, and the vocal control he shows throughout is genuinely next level. As an American discovering European music for the first time, I keep saying it and I'll say it again — Sweden is producing some of the most talented vocalists on the planet right now.
🎶 This American reaction video is part of my "Music Monday" series, where every single Monday I react to two music videos, usually artists or songs recommended by you guys or requested through Buy Me a Coffee. I've already covered some of Tommy's other performances like Ave Maria and Carolus Rex, and after this one I'll definitely be diving into more Sabaton and Majestica tracks soon.
❤️ What made this reaction different is that it turned into something a lot more personal than usual. Listening to the lyrics of "You Raise Me Up," I found myself thinking about my own dad and how much he's pushed me to become who I am. I don't usually get into that kind of personal reflection on camera, but the song and Tommy's performance pulled it out of me. If you don't have someone in your life lifting you up like that, I hope this video — and this description — can be a small piece of encouragement for you today.

Thank you so much for you reaction, and you have a new subscription from me ❤🎉🎉🎉
It's written by "Secret Garden", a Norwegian group, with a Norwegian and an Irish musician.
It's a Christian song, and written to God.
It's not a love song and some covers have been done too sentimental and romantic.
I personally think that Westlife, Susan Boyle, and Tommy have done the best covers.
The tones, chords, and vocals are typically Northern (inspired by Irish, Scottish, and Scandinavian folk music).
Josh Groban did an okay, but too instrumentalised and romantic version, and he didn't write the song, he didn't even make the first or second cover, and yet you can still hear people say "You raise me up by Josh Groban", which is ignorant!
PS! I'm a secularised non-religious Swede, but I can still relate to this song, because its message is so universal!
