Written, composed, and produced by Van himself. Oh....and he plays like 5 instruments on his songs.   Brilliant artist.  And the story of John Dunn and other marginalized poets and the power of the written word through the ages......beautiful!

He has the unique ability to put people in a trance with his music.

John Donne was a 16th century cleric and metaphysical poet, whose various works were considered too controversial for its time and were published long after his death. Van Morrison cites several others of this ilk by name, including American poet Walt Whitman and Lebanese mystic poet Khalil Gibran, Iranian poet Omar Khayyam and Irish poet William Butler Yates, presumably all of whom Mr. Morrison studied in his spiritual journey. One of the reasons Van Morrison is considered a superb artist, among his many musical talents, is the depth of his lyrical body of work.

Van the Man is a vessel for the mystical soul. Thank you!

Van moves the music from high to low, and he says the oneness and changes to the wonder.

Who else but Van Morrison could take a Buddy Holly song titled Rave On,  connect it to John Donne and into Van’s library of knowledge he
had on history, poetry, writers like Walt Whitman, Omar Khayam, Kahlil Gibran, and, lest we forget, the Irish poet“rave on Mr. Yeats!”.  Add philosophy, nature, and theosophy, and this is the sort of song Morrison leaps into the vanguard of the mystic musing off rock & roll.
Thank you, guys, for playing such an eclectic song on your program.  Nobody does it like Airplay Bests.  Nobody does it better than you.

Gorgeous, just gorgeous. Van is a treasure. 🔥

Wherever you start with Van the Man, you'll doubtless end up down his deep rabbit hole. Wonderful artist. 4:21

Thank you guys for sharing so many Van Morrison songs I've never heard. Truly love the known stuff, but relish the songs my ears have never heard and my brain never considered.

Absolutely one of the best Irish artists of all time. Van the Man

One of my favorite songs wait until the end!

I love the respect you give the music.

Van 'The Man' is everything.

One of the best soul singers ever. In the seventies, nobody could touch him.

Van live, it do not get any better🙂.  He always performs with A+ musicians.  His vocals were at their best in the early 90's.  "A night in San Francisco" is incredible, deeper into the blues!  With great ballads as well.

This is streams of consciousness in the purest sense. James Joyce would be proud. The music builds with layer after layer. Of course the voice is one of a kind.

"Rave On, John Donne" is a song by Van Morrison from his 1983 album Inarticulate Speech of the Heart. The song's title and lyrics reference the 17th-century English metaphysical poet John Donne, along with other writers like Walt Whitman and W.B. Yeats. The song celebrates the power of poetry and literature, suggesting that they, like religion, can offer a sense of immortality and spiritual experience." This song is worth a listen alone for Peewee Ellis' amazing sax and flute.

BROTHER!!! You shouldn't have stopped it when you did, either!!! The band was "in the pocket", and Van's vocals were soaring over top of them. NEVER stop the flow of that kind of magic. NEVER.

This song sends a powerful but simple message which you'd probably have to listen to a couple of times,

“Listen to the lion” another deep cut - beautiful music
