Donna Douglas stood for what she believed in so glad that she turned Playboy down!!!!!! She was a true sister in Christ.Shebwill be rewarded for her stand

I had heard that a couple of years ago the Clampet Mansion sold for $124, 000,000 dollars.  I love the show and still watch it's re-runs.  The Granny character was brilliantly played by Irene Ryan, I've heard that comedy is very difficult to act and have an audience laugh.  All the actors were great in creating their part.

The casting of Beverly Hillbillies was brilliant.
The writing was good too.

It’s fascinating how a show so many critics looked down on ended up becoming such a huge piece of American TV history. That alone says a lot about the gap between critics and audiences.

I'm 63 years old and I remember this show and it was one of the most must watch tv shows of my childhood. What a great story and very sad at the same time. Thank you for this thorough and informative background information ❤️

Donna Douglas had true old fashioned values. She wouldn't even reveal her age or year of birth. In the World Almanac, it would be left blank

Funny how CBS has a history of shooting itself in the foot that continues to this day.

Crazy how a show everyone called “lowbrow” was actually packed with real history, industry drama, and even quiet social satire. Behind the laughs and the “cement pond” jokes were actors dealing with typecasting, money battles, lost recognition, and a network that made billions while the cast got crumbs. Makes you realize The Beverly Hillbillies wasn’t just a silly sitcom — it was a cultural monster that shaped TV, challenged class stereotypes, and left a legacy way bigger than critics ever wanted to admit.

One of the best shows ever  !

I couldn't stand any of the other shows they replaced the show with! Granny definitely deserved the academy award!

I remember Donna Douglas coming to our church with a gospel group they sang come on over to the winning side. I remember being a small child and the anointing of the spirit covering me. That was the first time I felt the spirit of god. And praise his holy name not the last. I thank god for Donna I’m sure her obedience touched many others. She was  was truly a child of god . Can’t wait one day to hear her beautiful voice again giving god glory forever.

This was my favorite show as a child...I still love it to this day! It's horrible that they got screwed out of their money.

I understand that people have to pick things apart, criticize, and belittle all for the sake of reality and knowing the "truth".  When I was growing up, this show was fun entertainment that made me laugh and forget the challenges of everyday life. We can learn from mistakes but not wallow in them.

I'm 64, & 'Beverly Hillbillies' was without a doubt a completely fun & very fun TV show. Lots of good storylines & jokes. The characters were all lovable. Elly Mae was beautiful. Jethro was completely handsome.
All the dialogs & jokes were great. The critters were also so adorable. It was fun & great.

❤ this show ... and I'm a university educated, successful, city raised, sophisticated gal.

It was a wonderful show! I grew up watching it on TV. The actors who played them we're absolutely magnificent! From Buddy ebsen, to Irene Ryan, to Max Baer and Donna Douglas! They were fantastic actors and actresses , they were hilarious, and carried the show with warmth , love, and hilarity! It will always go down in history, as one of a kind, funny, and well performed! I miss them all, and truly love the show, as I know many did!  Hats off to you guys for bringing us a fantastic wonderful series! And to all the background people who brought it to us, thank you from the bottom of our hearts❤ it should always be remembered!!!!!!!! We loved it! ❤

Buddy Ebsen's fear that he would be forever be remembered
as Jed Clampett is somewhat akin to Leonard
Nimoy.

This show was my childhood, these secrets just blew my mind all over again

Paul Henning did choose Granny that was Bea from Burns and Allen

Loved learning all the wild behind-the-scenes facts about the Clampetts, especially how Irene Ryan was actually younger than Buddy Ebsen, or how Max Baer Jr. played both Jethro and his sister Jethrine!
