Manuel Antonio is amazing -but I think only one hotel is beachfront or sea level. It's likely you lodging on the hill and the task walking up from the beach. I remember when the park access was beach front and you had to walk across  a stream of brackish water. After years not going, I went last year. You get met by aggressive  dudes charging for parking on public property. The municipality has said for years they will fix the problem, and it remains. The park entrance has moved ia bit inland and of course 400% higher than I experienced in the past. It's always sold out, as some buy all tickets to scalp them. We went on the park's site to be informed entrance is sold out a week out. Reputable land operators also pre pay entrances and sell them with a guide at a fair price. To be honest, I only wanted to go to the beaches, but now had to walk through throngs of tourists for a longer distance. The beaches are amazing, but you can't chill with an outside beverage or bites. The concession stand is almost near the entrance and a long walk. I won't be returning to Manuel Antonio.

I would suggest bringing a camera that has zoom so you don't get right in wildlife's face. Remember, hundreds if not thousands of tourists visit nearly every day, so please give them space. You are a visitor in their home.
