Did you know that my Blunderbirds series is a parody of the 1960s British Sci-Fi show Thunderbirds? Probably, I guess. But did you know that there exists a mod that allows you to make a stockalike recreation of the MOST iconic of the Thunderbirds vehicles, that being Thunderbird 2? Yes, we’re taking a look at Nertea’s amazing Mark IV Spaceplane System mod!

As someone who grew up with Thunderbirds, I can highly recommend the reboot of 2015. It's a beautiful homage to the original show that doesn't undo anything from the original, but rather builds upon it!

6:08 "really well" he said while valentina ripped off the right wing

Not to worry, we're still flying half a ship! (7:13)

24:04 Barry owns Kerbal Space Program, after finding the building keys in a docking port left lying by a road.

Fun fact :about thunderbird 2 it is the only thunderbird to have both gone into space and gone underwater. Fun fact two: in the reboot they used a mix of cgi for charectors and vehcles and real constructions for everything else.

Yeah that emergency alert system went off nationally. New forest is on fire too, somewhere near Lewes a few weeks ago.. thats just the south east.

Thunderbirds was my childhood too and I'm 29. VHS at my grandparents after school too! My favourite Gerry Anderson was the hilariously dark captain scarlet, but I did have the wind-up stingray bath toy with spring loaded torpedoes.

21:08 why yes I too like to burn retrograde to circularize after ascent, that is the secret to a good space program

2015’s Thunderbirds Are Go is unironically great. They brought back Parker’s original voice actor to reprise his role, used a combination of practical and CG effects for the launch sequences, and made Tintin a badass with her own stealth fighter, Thunderbird Shadow. The redesigns of the other Thunderbirds are brilliantly done, adding more functional features (such as Thunderbird 3’s magnetic handling/docking arms) while remaining visually and spiritually faithful to the original designs. In fact, the only one to have a near-complete redesign is Thunderbird 5, and even it still manages to have a fairly similar silhouette to its original counterpart.

There’s also homages to other Gerry Anderson shows, multiple episodes where Brains and Parker use their respective skills to save the day, a new modular Rescue Pod system deployable from both Thunderbirds 2 and 3, and at least two non-aquatic deployments of Thunderbird 4.

2015 is actually really solid, not only do they still use real explostions and models like the original, BUT any CGI they do......its as if their CGI'ing actual scale down models, usig the perspective of the camera, i find it a really charming detail.

10:00 "25-35 seems old for a ksp audience" I think to myself as a 30something watching this video

Fun fact about the Thunderbirds. The special effects technician for Thunderbirds, was David Mitton. Later, he was a director of Thomas the tank engine and friends. I never watched the Thunderbirds but I am a Thomas and friends fan

Should see the Thunderbirds are Go show for a cool animated update. Also Thunderbird 2 on top always :)

@terrarium12 1 month ago

You might have accidentally blocked the cheetah engine from showing up, to unblock it go: Janitors closet > Show blocked > and either unblock just it or unblock all parts. Hope this helps 😊

I am in my mid 20s. My father showed me the Thunder birds in my early 10s. Loved it, still watch it to this day, along as its animated sequel. The depiction of the future of the 60s still amazes me to this day. The show is one of the main reasons I became a Aerospace engineer

In regards to the returning stages in missions like this. There's a mod for that! It's called Flight Manager for Reusable Stages I believe (or FMRS) and it's quite helpful! Can be set to do docking ports as staging and such. Very helpful and it does safe both halves of the ship!

@NikitaWolf1776 1 month ago

You should definitely just keep this craft around for any time someone needs a genuine rescue. See how far you can push this design

@matthewpearson2672 1 month ago

Captain scarlet and stingray had the more expansive and fleshed out stories BUT!!! Thunderbirds will forever has my 21yo heart because of the rule of cool and the 2004 films!
