This dive site has taken lives. The companies know it. The locals whisper about it. But it’s still open and one family paid the price. This story was nearly buried. I’m bringing it back up.

If you're on a dive, but have second thoughts. Don't do the dive.

I feel so sorry for the father. Having your own son die a horrible death right in front of your eyes is the worst thing that can happen to a parent. This was one of the most depressing stories I've ever heard.

Wow, what disgusting behaviour by those companies. Thank you for getting this story out.

This could happen at any of these tourist destinations. There's the illusion of safety, the illusion of knowledge, the illusion of accountability.

charging someone for being lost at sea is crazy evil

@vonadvocateharbour 1 year ago

As soon as the Captain said a thing about caring about the money more than their safety, that was the time to say “thank you very much, take us back now.”

@Sewerborn84 1 year ago

If the captain said that shit to me, and then my son got lost the captain will get lost that day too

That place is absolutely disgusting! They should be forced out of business!

@WispyEmbers 1 year ago

The audacity to ask the wife to pay for a rescue boat before searching for her loved ones.

@Maccanarchy 1 year ago

Even more tragic when you realise they decided to do the second dive because they didn't want to lose like $100.

If i ever find myself with millions and millions of dollars, one of my projects/hobbies will be filing lawsuits against these kind of outfitters each time I see a video about a tragic event where the outfitter avoids taking responsibility. I'll just keep throwing lawsuit after lawsuit against them and drain them of all their funds until they go under.

No accountability from anyone. From the boat captain to the resort. None of them cared. Which means it’s gonna happen again.

That captain should have been charged and imprisoned for reckless endangerment.
What a nightmare 😢

Terrifying. I've been caught in a sudden underwater rip current when diving with a buddy on a route around a rock island like this in Indonesia. We managed to grab onto a bommie- luckily I was wearing gloves- and stay calm although the current was so strong it ripped off one of my fins. . The boat didn't follow us around the rock. Luckily the rip seemed to be tidal and calmed down, we surfaced and swam to the rock and got around till we could see and signal the boat. No apology from the crew. That was pretty much my last dive.

The complete negligence began immediately when the company offered diving trips to areas that were off limits.

@EX7RUD1CON 1 year ago

when you look at reviews for that place all they care about when confronted about abandoning and letting a diver die and then blaming the family is that the person leaving the review didn’t actually stay there. they seriously seem to think it negates their gross negligence that got people injured and killed.

I scuba dive and I had a dive where conditions got worst. I dove in worse, but it was rough where I was almost out of gas fighting the current. It was very tough, but I canceled the other planned dive. I may have lost some money (because I rented gear) but I felt good that I didn't put others at risk should I run into trouble. Fellow scuba divers, please do NOT be afraid to skip dives if the conditions get worse. Money cannot replace life. Get out and dive another day when conditions are better.

no ai is refreshing

They got on a boat with a guy who has no diving experience, substances in his system, didn’t speak English, didn’t know how to use a GPS, and went scuba diving in an unfamiliar place with strangers.

Just think about it for a minute.

I wouldn’t get on that dive at gunpoint.
