The brand-new EEW Fold from Dreaming Robots is tiny, portable, and capable of a staggering 3,000 RPM! But, can it actually spin everything from laceweight yarn to bulky? Let’s unbox it, set it up, and find out.

This video is not sponsored. I purchased the EEW Fold myself. If you’d like to support the channel, you can use my Dreaming Robots affiliate link above at no additional cost to you.
In this video, I’ll walk through the setup, explain the flyer-led bobbin-brake system, test the Scotch tension, foot switch, digital RPM display, and orifice reducer, and spin several different yarns from loose fiber and rolags.
We’ll try thin yarn, thick yarn, long draw, low and high twist, and speeds ranging from a gentle crawl all the way to 3,000 RPM. I’ll also compare the Fold with my EEW Nano, talk about who might benefit from an e-spinner, and share why electric spinning wheels can be such useful tools for accessibility, travel, small spaces, and everyday spinning.
I also pull out a surprisingly old electric spinning wheel to show that e-spinners have been around much longer than many spinners realize.
In this video:
00:00 Intro
02:05 Unboxing and assembling the EEW Fold
03:38 Setting up the bobbin, flyer, hooks, drive band, and Scotch tension
12:26 Using the foot switch and digital RPM display
15:35 Spinning fine, bulky, worsted, woolen, and long-draw yarn
23:20 Spinning thoughts
25:23 Testing the 1,550 and 3,000 RPM profiles
27:38 Transition from treadles to e-spinners
29:03 Community reaction to e-spinners
30:04 Accessibility, portability, and lifestyle considerations
32:32 Rouet Presto from Canada
34:07 My honest first verdict
35:39 Cat Shananagans
