I love mine and to be honest i like it much better than my mpc one. I can’t stand the sp404. I was very happy to get rid of it. The mpc sample just need a few more updates feature wise and i wont complain.

This is a fair list!

Great review.
You make some really valid points. The 1 track limit can be tolerated pretty easily, even though as you mentioned, the Ep-133 and Move have multiple tracks at a similar price point.  Overall I think that you should be willing to live with it as is, if you plan to cop one. The reason I say that is, hoping that Akai will roll out a bunch of features in future updates is not a logical plan. Akai is never going to dish out too much because they want to pressure you to upgrade to a more expensive device. They made that very obvious with the way they handled the V3.0 rollout.

Have a great day all

Valid pros and cons to be fair.  Personally, I'm a simple guy, I just want a simple grid, where I can nudge notes.  I hate the current step editor and If I ever need a ton of features, Ill use the L3 or One+ 😂

mpc and reason 14 is the truth! im back on my reason SHS#$324

You should get a cheap fold out stand for your MPC live. It holds alot of weight and it has adjustable heights. They are the ones that fold out and look like an X. They are less than $20. Get the metal one.

The digitakt 2 doesn’t have removable storage but the Mpc sample at a quarter of the price does smh

From what I can see using my imaschine 2 with my iMPC pro 2 can do way more. And I can input it in my MPC One Plus or reverse course and go with my Maschine MK 2 in Maschine 2.0 or use the MPC Desktop since I’m only using 2.15.

i have a few other drum machines but they are not really that portable so i kind of got this on a whim since guitar center down the road actually got some in stock.  its really fun off the bat. the sequencer is dope.  i have a bunch of little behringer synths that will work really well with this too. moog oberheim casio prophet vs. all tiny and actually sound decent. not exact clones but they did extract the good bits.  these fx are great.

My thoughts after a day: I literally got mine yesterday morning ( also have an MPC One and have owned a ton of MPC's over the years )

Super fast to make tunes on, I was up and running in an hour, very much like my old MPC2000,; love that.  Also a lot of fun to use, I can throw in a lot of oldskool  MPC techniques with this.

Changes:

You need to be able to name a sequence.
FX are good and bad, I'd prefer pad effects to have a manual send rather that the pad pressure send which is awful  ( or maybe both )
Send effects
More options on the master compressor, it's too limited, and a clipper option too.
The ability to design your own flex beat pattern ( in the MPC 3 sopftware ) and import them.
More options on the effects ( all time effects, delay , reverb etc need to have both and HPF and a LPF or the mix just gets too muddy using them )
The ability to switch sequencers at a defined value ( say 1 bar, 2 bars, 1/2 bar etc. ) for live I dont't want to have to wait for the whole sequencer to run through.
Proper side chain ( pumper is only good for 4/4 rhythms, I need it working from the kick pattern)
Alt metronome sounds
Nice to be able to change volume, pitch, rev etc per slice in pad chop mode.
Instant bounce in place to another pad ( or the same pad ) with chop mode.
Creating a folder on an external drive for samples and projects
Solo on the pad mute, solo on the pads in general. ( and an option for accumulative solo and all solo off )

And that's it off the top of my head, there were a few others when I was messing around yesterday for sure though.

I get the feeling the haters haven't used one of these machine. I mean, let's face it, for a mini walkabout MPC Akai have knocked this out the park.

Also, you have a new sub, like the content.

I like the unlimited projects,  sd card and sample length on the mpc sample also the rechargeable power and not too heavy 900grams... I do wish it had octaves keys and scales...THEN I'd buy one to run beside/instead of my Riddim or KOII foe writing songs out in weatherspoons or McDonald's.

Question: Do you think the MPC Sample is easy enough for a 11 year old or 14 year old? I have two boys 11 and 14… i’m just wondering if they would get too frustrated with the one track or the shift function process… both of my sons are straight A students… so they’re pretty tech savvy, but I’m just worried that they will lose interest. I’m on the fence as you can tell, it’s not the MPC Sample, then, what would you recommend for both their ages? You’re probably one of the few guys I trust about portable devices, because I know you know your stuff. :) You know these devices better than just about anybody that I’ve come across , so I appreciate your response Thanks.🤛🏽

I am struggling a bit with file management.

To my knowledge, there is no way to save a sample in a sub folder on the external memory.  So if I’m sampling multiple records, I find myself pausing between each LP to connect the mpc to my desktop to move the files from the User folder into appropriate sub folders in order to maintain organization.

Also, when I save a new sample to the external memory, the sample on the pad stays as an automatically named file on the internal memory.  After sampling multiple records onto every pad of a temp project, my mpc gave me error messages indicating no more internal storage space.  Seems like the pad should switch when you save it, or at least have that option.

And when connecting the mpc to my desktop, I have access to the external memory, but not the internal memory.  Would be helpful to have full access.

Anyone else having similar issues, or have any suggestions?

you can let go of the shift key once you're holding copy btw

I’m interested in using the Sample alongside my Circuit Tracks but am worried about the potential syncing issue.  Does anyone have experience with this?

Haven't had to charge it much since you got it?? What magic battery you got in there lol
Lasts a few hours for me

I really love this thing, but man, its such a shame they went for pots instead of encoders

Resampling to sequence
Has died on my unit 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡✌️✌️✌️
