Anyone else notice she used store bought popcorn on that clown cake instead of making it from scratch? 👀

My fiance has a friend who is a cake decorator at our local walmart. She went to school for culinary to be a walmart cake decorator, which even she gets how odd that can seem to some people. She does beautiful work, gets paid rather well and loves her job.

If I want to pay over 100$ in CAKE, I’m gonna look for a professionally trained patisserie who went to school in France.

“They’re making minimum wage” lady I made $26.15 hourly to frost cakes and I can frost 4-5 custom designed cakes in an hour.

So, in other words she didn't do her research to find out how Walmart cakes are made. And she doesn't touch on the tone of her voice in the first video. There was anger in that voice. And disdain. It wasn't just the words, it was the tone.

I am poor, I am vegan, and I have Celiacs. If I was to buy a cake from a small business I might have to take out a loan. I'll just keep making them myself

I got my wedding cake from a grocery store. It was 3 tier with flowers and $75. We cut it up and served it at the end of the wedding and not a piece was left. Everyone said it was delicious. Im sure it was a box cake. No regrets. We went on a fabulous honeymoon instead of spending a ton on the wedding. That was more memorable than the wedding. Yeah I said it.

As someone who went to culinary school, yes, box cake is literally just the dry ingredients mixed together. It's basically just skipping  you having to measure out and mix them.
And if you just swap the oil and water with butter and milk, and add an egg, it will taste homemade.

In my state being a home baker/cook is illegal.
State law REQUIRES a health department certified commercial kitchen to sell any food to the public including at farmers markets and flea markets.

"Let the peasants eat cake! But it has to be a $200 custom cake from my boutique bakery, or else they're TURBO peasants who don't even DESERVE cake!!" - this baker.

It doesn’t matter how much better the 200$ cake is because I flat out can’t afford one.

When i bought my wedding cake from a bakery, the women told me to get a two tier cake to cut and then order a huge sheet cake for the guests. It's MUCH cheaper and guests don't see their slices being cut anyways. She saved us alot of money and the cakes tasted amazing.

I’m a baker! And I do those cakes! And I know times are hard so if someone tells me that my cakes aren’t in their budget I’ll refer them to Walmart! I’ve actually gotten requests for sheet cakes and told people I wouldn’t feel right taking their money by making that for 2 times the price! That’s just me! Live and let live! If your cakes are good they’ll speak for themselves! (Also I love your Prodough brownies!!) 💕

I was not a great cashier at Walmart 35 years ago. I earned an MA, eventually. But what Walmart taught me was more important. Low pay doesn’t mean low skilled or stupid. I have managed to have an enjoyable meaningful life without a lot of money. Really fun yet informative video.

I hope the lady complaining about cake realizes not a lot of people can afford it and why cause such an uproar if you’re “booked and busy”.

Pastry chef here~ buy those walmart cakes alot of these "home bakers" use terrible ingredients as well or premade stuff and are overcharging. Support actually skilled pastry chefs and bakers if you can but like dessert is a treat and if you're as good as you say you are then people will have no problem spending the money.

I usually buy custom cakes for special events but with the price inflation, I just buy store made cakes now. Yes, quality is NOT the same, but my wallet says that's all I can afford

if you put some pudding mix into a box cake it turns out amazing. that was the secret to making boxed cakes tastes better at the bakery i used to work at

I'm terrible in the kitchen but....8 sticks of butter in one cake? that girl is funded by big pharma and expect to increase the number of heart attacks?
