I reacted to every UK chart number 1 song from the 1990s (1990–1999) and I was genuinely shocked 😳
So many artists I always thought were American turned out to be British… and at the same time, the influence of American music on the UK charts was impossible to ignore.
I know people in the UK might see this differently — and that’s exactly why this conversation is interesting. This isn’t disrespect, it’s an outside perspective from a Chicago dude experiencing 90s UK music in real time.

Some actors, who sung the songs originally in the TV shows they starred in - 2:23 Kylie Minogue started out in the soap Neighbours before she became the Princess of Pop, just like most Australian singers in UK charts. 3:54 Also feature Keith Allen aka Lily & Alfie Allen's dad. 9:40 Jason Donovan, who played Kylie Minogue's boyfriend in Neighbours, who is currently starring in the Leeds & Bradford soap Emmerdale. 13:33 Jimmy Nail from various shows. 25:59, 27:59 & 33:39 Robson & Jerome from Soldier Soldier. 52:23 Martine McCutchen from the soap Eastenders.
12:58 Most of the Black Eurodance singers are mainly from countries like Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and Italy, just like most Eurodance acts in general.

While it was presented as a song about a eccentric character named Ebeneezer Goode, it was a deliberate play on words regarding the popularity of ecstasy (often referred to as 'E') in the 1990s rave scene.

17:58 DJ Jazzy Jeff, Rhymefest, and Dayne Jordan performed with Bradford's Lunar C at the opening of Size? shoe shop in York in 2018, however the video was quickly removed by Size? themselves shortly after posting it, so there's now no video evidence whatsoever of Lunar C being there, although he probably has his own photos/videos. There's not even an interview video, yet DJ Jazzy Jeff, Rhymefest, and Dayne Jordan's interviews are still up. However the posters still exist.
