lol Jefferson is just suffering in silence to their criticism, apparently the real Jefferson LOATHED people critiquing his work.
I love Ben seeing that, and then cheering him up by complimenting his revolutionary spinny chair.

Notice how Franklin see Jefferson getting upset and compliments him on his swivel chair. Franklin was truly a master of charisma. He knew how to talk to people.

Jefferson looks at Franklin changing three words like he just kicked his dog.

Jefferson invented the first gamer chair

Giamatti's portrayal of Adams as being so self aware of his faults and shortcomings seems spot on.  He knew who he was and how he was perceived.

People love to look back on 1776 with the rose colored glasses of 202X. We need to remember they were dealing with issues, similar to our own today, that simply could not just be solved at the stroke of a pen, or the snap of a finger. They could not be perfect, in the event the rest of the colonies wouldn't go along with the greater movement. "Don't let perfect become the enemy of good."

One of the greatest roles ever in a film.  Prior to this, Paul Giamatti was more of a supporting actor.  In fact, up until this brilliant film series, I don’t believe he had any lead roles.  None of which I am aware.  Everyone in this film was incredible, it’s just such a well made masterpiece.  Can’t praise it enough.

Franklin, as his is wont, goes straight to the economic argument that to restrict the supply of slaves is to increase their value, which is a universal pricing principle regardless of any morality.

''I have read your summary view of the rights of British America and i have a great opinion of the elegance of your pen''

What a fucking incredible compliment to both person, form and literature!

Swivel chair vs Dowager Countess 100+ years later.

Thanks to these great men I got to slam beers and do cannon balls in my Mom's pool yesterday on the 250th 4th of July.  FREEDOM!!!!

The greatest republic on Earth was created like this. TJ is underrated.

This series is absolutely brilliant. The friendship between Adams and Jefferson on full display. Too bad they had a falling out but they did reconcile before they both died...on the same day...mere hours apart...on July 4, 1826. Never was there a more apropos event in history.

I don't think HBO realizes what it has created here in this miniseries. It set the standard for the duty of filmmakers to tell the truth in a comprehensive way. While  Spielberg's Lincoln is also a masterpiece, it is woefully insufficient in portraying the depth of Lincoln as HBO as done with Adams, and all the other Founders. David Morse's Washington is wonderful.

President Adams was a humble man. Trying to humble everyone else was his shortcoming.

Everyone needs a friend like Ben Franklin and John Adams….Jefferson was pretty chill too

😅imagin staying up and writing something Adams and Franklin would see in the morning.  Talk about pressure

Self-evident.

Oh shit it's stannis! He gonna deliver the kings justice!
