If there's flashing lights, we're on the scene.

About BARNEY MILLER: Captain Barney Miller is the patient and wise catalyst who must interact not only with his staff, but with the volatile mixture of malefactors and weirdos who stream through 12th Precinct headquarters. Barney's staff of detectives bring their own personalities to the chemistry: There's naive Wojehowicz, sophisticated and ambitious Harris, and Dietrich, given to arcane Freudian explanations. Barney and his crew face unpredictable adventures and frequently bizarre assignments with professional dedication and an essential sense of the absurd.

My friends who grew up in New York told me that "Barney Miller" was the most 'New York' show on TV back then.

The reason that Diana Canova and Steve Landesberg seem to have such great chemistry in this episode is because they were living together and in a relationship at the time..

Loved them all. Never thought they could replace Fish. But Dietrich was the best.

Fun fact: Some years ago, the IRS alleged the owner of the a legal brothel in Nevada was hiding money from the government and defrauding the government of the correct amount of federal taxes. Therefore, the IRS seized the property and the business and tried to recoup the outstanding tax bill by continuing to operate the brothel. However, when regular customers discovered that the IRS was running the business they stopped coming (literally). Eventually, they had to sell the business back to the original owner because they couldn’t prove that he was hiding tax money and were unable to prove it was a profitable enterprise.😂

“You’d like that, wouldn’t you, Poco.” Killed me. I concur with so many others. This show helped raise so many of us. Thank you again for posting.

I watch Barney Miller every morning. I was born in 1964 I remember watching this as a kid. I like when years are mentioned on the show it takes me back how old I was.

Todd Susman portrayed the combustible man along with several other characters on Barney Miller. Whenever I see Andrew Gordon-Levitt in a program or movie, I think of Susman. They're so similar in appearance.

Always liked this show watched it when it was current ! I like the human problems that they encounter and the current issues addressed if you weren’t around then , you wouldn’t know about energy crises at that time and Dept of Energy tellingbpeople to turn thermostat to 68 , turn off lights, and use less or no Christmas lights ! This was like 78 with Jimmy carter !

I wonder what the background equipment is used for. For example, that bell on the wall at 19:52 and the punch machine at 9:51. In some episodes, it's obvious there is a hallway behind the jail cell.
