Thanks, Andrew!  Always love watching your videos no matter which channel I find them on.  Thanks for sharing.

im 28 yo 187cm 88kg, i was swinging the 8lb maul for 5 hours cutting my grandpas pine woods (heavily knotted). well my back didnt like taht a lot, but god i love that maul. since you have power you can split some really hard stuff.

The 8lbs maul is great for splitting green oak.

Swinging an ax to split wood is one reason the average age of death for men was 39 years old back in the 1800’s. That’s a brutal work out. Those are some nice tools to add to your wood chopping arsenal.

GR8 tool,😊

Follow up. After watching this review on a couple of others I decided to pick up a 6 lb ISO core. On stuff that's a little stubborn for my x27, the iso cores just the ticket and does a fantastic job. Over the past few days ive cut and split about 2 cords from a couple of large (18-20") hickoys that blew down last year..  I still used the x27 90% of the time because it still gets the job done in one or two swings. After the first couple of hits it's pretty easy to tell whether or not the axe is going to struggle and when it does this maul is a handy an effective tool to have. Together they make one heck of a team.  I have a hydraulic splitter, and using these 2 tools it was a lot faster splitting by hand.  Honestly,  I think it was less work too because I wasn't having to lift and move the big rounds.  Just stand them up on ens and split them where they stand.  Typically 15 to 20 swings on them yielded 12 to 15 pieces of firewood ready to stack.

6lb maul is faster to the wood! I have split wood for years and have used both! I am 6ft 4 225 at 67 years old and I love the 6lb maul!

I really appreciate this review. After 30 plus years of swinging an 8 lb maul, my shoulders could no longer take the abuse. I got a used hydraulic splitter about 6 years ago It does a lot of the heavy work now. I still split some with an X27, but I've been kicking around the idea of getting a 6 lb maul for those occasional pieces x27 doesn't like and when I don't want to have to drag out and start the hydraulic splitter. I can still swing an 8 lb maul a few times if I need to, but I have to be real careful. I think I could get away with a 6-pound maul a lot easier.

Of course this takes a question which splits better, the 6lb isocore,  or the X27.... 😊

I have the 8lbs one and found it worked better with a 45° bevelled edge on Australian hardwood.  If a maul constantly bounces then reduce the bevel edge from 45° to 60° the wider the bevel angle the more force required to bust open those twisted locked in wood fibres

My 1st choice is the x32 if that dont go through the 8lb maul and if that dont go the wedge comes out and if that dont go fork it grab the saw

Nice review.

I found the 8 pounder heavy at first but I'm a bit more used to it now, I use a lighter axe wherever possible though

I really like the 8lb one. But I guess it all depends on the wood your splitting.

I like the one hooked up to the quad better🤣

Love the review.  8 pounder wore
You out a little. 😮

Beast 💪

Nice review Andrew. And a good workout for you at the same time 😅

If you want to see a huge performance improvement spray the cutting surfaces with silicone, no NOT oil or wd-40, SILICONE! This goes for any splitting tool even the humble axe.

Bought an "8lb" version..weighted it . was close to 12lbs..sent it back.

trying to decide between this 6 pound and the x27 . will only be using it to break down 30 inch plus rounds for the gas splitter . your thoughts ???
