I am beginning to fear that moustache is the demiurge... We protest and protest yet it endures in its malevolence.

Seeing these two together is like seeing a rainbow during a snowstorm.

ESOTERICA! My main man. The black metal wizard/ rabbi. I absolutely adore his work. He finds the perfect middle ground to talk about religion, necromancy, the occult but with a logical way that is more of a study. He's an expert on the subject, not a preacher. Great collaboration Alex. Fantastic teacher to anyone interested in learning about this history of these subjects.

Justin Sledge is one of the few YouTubers that discovered very early when he had just a few hundred views and it’s been astounding and gratifying to see him rise. So well deserved. Much respect to you both. I discovered this channel much more recently and the blending of two worlds is so very satisfying.

Justin was your best guest so far on these biblical deep dives episodes

When Christians blurt that you're taking it out of context. They are not just repeating a non sequitur platitude.
The context to which they are often referring is the context of their presuppositional assumption that God is good.
They read it while constantly asking themselves, "Why would a good person do this?" and insisting that one can not understand the scripture without a positive answer.
It really makes the Bible even more incoherent than science does.

The idea of a malevolent creator makes more and more sense to me every time I see the news

Empiricists: "That's an interesting theory on how the world was made Plato, care to back it up with a Source?"
Plato:"My Source is that I made it the fuck up!"

I'm loving the gnostic deep dives, this is one of my favorite topics.

'The most dangerous thing to scripture is to simply read it.' That is an enduring truth. At 13 yrs, I read the Bible as preparation for my confirmation sacrament. It reenforced every doubt I'd ever had about god and the church. I've been an atheist/humanist ever since.

As a Christian I've never heard anything like this. I watched the whole thing.

Been waiting for this. The last podcast with Justin Sledge is my favorite you've done. His breadth of knowledge, and his ability to recall and communicate that knowledge is incredible.

What a delightful theme for Sunday evening

If it weren’t for the syncretism with El, I think Yahweh’s history wouldn’t be quite so problematic to some people. It could always be that “oh, this region is just where he first revealed himself” until he’s two gods combined.

Few things give me greater pleasure than to listen to the interaction of two incredibly intelligent and learned men-- one an excellent interviewer and "proponent of questions"; the other a true philosopher, "lover of wisdom" and excellent educator. I could listen to both of you all day. Thank you for giving us so much to think about (and re-think about).
