The ball came out when the hand hit, by the time the forearm hit the ball was out. The wrist is part of the hand. Was a good call by the refs for once.

The Rule Breakdown: Gene Steratore noted that under the official NFL rulebook, a player's wrist is considered part of the hand. A player is not considered "down by contact" if only their hands or feet touch the ground while being tackled. Because a hand down cannot cause a player to be down, a ball forced loose when the wrist hits the ground is technically a live-ball fumble.

The fumble wasn’t iffy. It was clearly a fumble

I saw two “hand on the ground” fumbles yesterday and I like the rule. If they use the same rule for incomplete passes why wouldn’t they call it a fumble?
“War daddy” ….. haven’t heard that term in a while.

Anyone in the comments saying the fumble was a lucky break clearly didnt watch the replay and the explanation of how the rule works. I didnt k ow the rule either. But idk how u could watch the replay and have the rule explained to you then think we got lucky? It was an ez call. No different than if replay showed a toe was out of bounds on a catch

We got a break on the punt 'fumble', because it looked like his forearm touched (which should be down by contact) - that was a huge play in the game. Still, it's on us to take advantage of the breaks and make it worthwhile and the boys did that.

I will say that Luke Farell's blocking (and the timing of his blocks) on our explosive plays has been awesome this year. We gotta give that guy credit for doing the dirty work (like Juice) and not getting the glory of having the ball much.
