Gordon Johncock was one of the major stars of IndyCar in the USAC era. Johncock won several races on his own in the late 1960s, but he soon became much more competitive in the 70s once he joined Patrick Racing. Johncock took won Indy 500s with the team, including the legendary finish in 1982 where he outdueled Rick Mears, and won the 1976 title with him. His 25 wins still leaves him tied for 17th on the IndyCar all-time win list. Godspeed, Johncock.
