This was the beginning of Alabama’s dominance in college football

The end of an era for Texas and the beginning of the Alabama dominance that still continues to this day

I don’t ever think i seen Saban fake another punt/kick until The 1st championship game vs Clemson 😂

Mack’s decision to not take a knee on the ball before halftime was costly

This was shaping up to be an epic B-side to the 2006 USC-Texas title game at the Rose Bowl, but for McCoy’s injury.  This was also pretty much the end of Texas football as a power

As a die hard longhorn. Shipley cracks my top 5 all time in longhorn history!! Such a beast.

The Grand Daddy of them all needs to come back to the cfb playoffs.

Anybody else here after Texas defeated Alabama tonight?

The Beginning of Alabama Decade of Dominance after the 2000's was a Dark Decade of HELL.

Love Brent Musburger and that classic ABC college football theme song, especially at the Rose Bowl!

Although this is not quite as epic as it would’ve been with Keith Jackson and full ABC Sports branding, it’s still a full-blast nostalgia trip

Fake punt on a 4th & 23 from your own 20 yard-line? That's bold!

Colt McCoy one of my favorite college quarterbacks ever!

Damn I forgot Texas were in the national championship

cried watching this game as a 12 year old kid go texas

Damn shipley went off in the 2nd half

A very underrated natty

Man! Texas had some players 👀

I wonder if Colt regrets not going back in knowing he would be a career back up in the NFL would be the only taste of a championship he would have

Bring back the crystal ball trophy!

This is still to date the last time a national championship game did not take place on a Monday night

That was on the Thursday night before NFL Wild Card Weekend (3 days before that famous Packers/Cardinals 51-45 instant classic)

My how times have changed
