Aliia Roza is a former secret agent turned women’s empowerment coach, public speaker, and influencer with over 1 million followers on Instagram who specialized in seduction and psychological manipulation to dismantle human and drug trafficking networks for the Russian government.

Born in Karaganda, Kazakh SSR, in the former USSR to a distinguished Kazakh-Tatar military family, father Colonel Timerbulat Roza of the KGB 1st Chief Directorate (retired FSB general-lieutenant), mother Gulnara Roza daughter of Red Army Colonel Khasan Timerbulatov (Order of the Red Banner, Berlin 1945); she was rigorously trained under a state program for officers’ children in martial arts and psychological conditioning, later graduating from Russia’s Military Academy of Internal Affairs and earning a master’s in fashion from London’s Istituto Marangoni plus certification in human sexuality from Kinsey University.

Selected for elite KGB-style training, Roza infiltrated criminal rings to rescue underage girls from sex trafficking; during one mission she was abducted and beaten by gang members but rescued by a target who had fallen in love with her, prompting her final operation, witness-protection status, defection from Russia, identity change, and relocation to Europe.
Since 2018 an ambassador for London’s Best Beginnings Charity (endorsed by the British Royal Family and personally introduced to Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III), Roza founded the Roza Club, organizing 30+ humanitarian events backed by Cartier, Rolls Royce, Damiani, Roberto Cavalli, and House of Garrard to aid underprivileged women and children in London and Paris. A 2017 Miss Asia International Beauty crowned by Sushmita Sen, she earned Forbes Woman Empowerment recognition at Cannes and Venice Film Festivals (2019, 2022) and speaks at the United Nations and World Changers Summit in Vatican City. She co-hosts the podcast To Die For with Neil Strauss, has signed with Topic Studios for a life documentary, and is writing a book exposing KGB spy techniques to help readers spot manipulation in relationships and daily life; her column “How to Dress Like a Spy” translates espionage confidence into practical fashion and self-empowerment advice for women.

It was an interesting episode, but one thing really bothered me. My father was a high ranking officer in the Soviet army, which is why I know her father understood exactly where he was sending her, and he knew she would be raped and exploited. He chose himself and his ambitions over his daughter.

Thank you for this incredible interview, Shawn. I’ve noticed that some Americans struggle to relate to her and even assume she’s lying, but that comes from not understanding Slavic culture or how life works in Russia. In the U.S., freedom is so ingrained that it’s hard to imagine a society where emotions are seen as weakness, mental illness is dismissed, and survival means pushing forward no matter what. For her, this isn’t just the mindset of a spy, it’s the reality for ordinary people too. Even though Russia is no longer the USSR, the mindset remains deeply ingrained in the culture and the people to this day. Russia has been a country of constant war, where serving the state and gaining status was considered the highest honor. She is incredibly smart and strong, yet living in fear. Processing PTSD and trauma isn’t a luxury she can afford, so she chooses to move past it instead. I deeply respect her, and I hope that one day she finds the space to heal.

The part when Shawn asks if she’s still using seduction to get her ways, and she says “today?”, and after his nod she’s like “no, because you’re a married man” - that was hilarious. Good thing that Shawn kept his cool and didn’t laugh so hard.

As a Canadian her conversation about her mother saying the Soviet Union was the best times because it was predictable is sooooooooo scary and insidious. People in Canada are so content to not rock the boat even if they see the rights of people being infringed upon- but until it impedes on their own life they just let it happen.

A a Soviet war hero for a grandad, her father being high-ranking army intelligence officer mean that she was a 'red aristocracy" girl of the highest degree with a lot of privileges - special shops, food, access to party resorts off the limits for ordinary humans. This is confirmed by the way she describes the fall of communism: food shortages, misery, queues etc. Those existed in the USSR too but she came to notice this only when her family lost its privileges and started to live as every one else....
