Kaido tried, the elders cried, big mom died, luffy in 5

Oda said gear 5 came from his love of Tom and Jerry

Sage when Luffy's down: GET UUUUUUP
Sage's reaction when he gets up: .o.

Nami stepping up to Kaido like that is one of my favorite Wano moments. Yes Zoro is his right hand man , but Nami has been with the crew basically just as long as him, she is willing to put it all on the line the same way Zoro is , she just isn’t as strong

i was unironically DRUNK AS ALL HELL when this episode dropped, was not ready for the goofy luffy

The first thing Luffy does in every ark is find someone down and in need of help. The first thing he asks them is if they have food. When they do he asks them what they need help with. Then he fixes their problem. A long time ago people would make offerings to gods. If you were rich you would give gems or gold, but if you weren't you gave what you could (Usually food). Then you would pray for blessings or help. Luffy has been doing this since episode 1. As for the sun god bit, he came from the east, which is where the sun rises. There is also imagery involving the dawn in every major ark where Luffy wins over evil. This is the greatest transformation in history. People overuse the word peak. It means the absolute pinnacle of something. One piece is Peak Fiction.

34:20 THANK YOU SAGE. even if dudes complain about it being to goofy for an anime, you cant just deny that there couldn't be a more fitting power for luffy

HE FINALLY MADE IT

Some folks don’t remember how long the journey to Gear 5 for the first time felt man 😂 Wano alone took YEARS 💀

did not know Zunesha sounded like that in dub. bro sounded turnt when he heard those drums lol

Sage getting to this part just shows not only tried to give the series time and space but he is enjoying it which is really good. Keep it up The Peak goes on for a long time.

Fun fact: Warner Bros helped animate this and all future Wano G5 scenes. That alone should tell you what you’re getting into.

On this day, an elephant tells a dragon, Joy Boy has Returned.
Not only did it wake Sanji up, but it made Sanji ignore the woman next to him. That's how you know shit is real.
Luffy is the god of "Feed me and I'll Liberate your country."

Luffy being the sun god was foreshadowed in skypiea! There is one manga panel and one scene in the anime where the crew is dancing around a fire and you can see luffy's shadow be in the shape of the sun gods dance

21:55 that reaction from sage is literally priceless, even if he knew about gear 5 the sheer shock from that realization is the best reaction I've seen for gear 5

what I love is that even if people have seen Gear 5 and been spoiled on the appearance, the likelihood they know what it is and how it changes so much of the story perception is usually not spoiled for them. the reveal that the gum gum was not Luffy's fruit's name, that his fruit is a god fruit and that Nika and Joyboy are wrapped up in that reveal is much more important to the story than how it looks (though how it looks is definitely incredibly cool)

Fucks with the eng dub Nami pulling people's card like she has no fear in her heart 😂😂

Lots of people were mad about Gear 5 and called it a retcon. But legit it makes lots of shit make sense. Like red hawk and the lightning attack in Dressrosa.

Gear 5 is an homage to western cartoons the mangaka of one piece fell in love with as a child. I.e. Tom and Jerry bugs Bunny etc.

Sounds like Tom and Jerry because that was literally the inspiration and Toei collaborated with CN animators
