Kurt Angle won Olympic gold with a broken neck, yet five rivals pushed him harder than any title ever could. In 2026, Angle blind-ranked his ten greatest opponents on the Stiff Shot Podcast, with no preparation and no idea of his final order. This video counts down his top five.

From Stone Cold Steve Austin finding the one crack in his legendary conditioning at a house show in Fresno, to The Undertaker's overwhelming presence, to Eddie Guerrero making him say "that's not fair," every rival tested a different side of him. Then comes Shawn Michaels, with whom he had instant chemistry at WrestleMania 21 despite never working together before.

At number one is the most complicated name in wrestling history: Chris Benoit. This video does not revisit 2007. It covers only what Angle has said across documented interviews about the in-ring experience, while acknowledging that what came after is unforgivable.

Watch to find out why the matches that mattered most to Kurt Angle were the ones where he genuinely wasn't sure he would win.
