- Added 1-11 and a-k to the board rows and columns.

- Added arrows to island tiles to indicate where pawns start to easily identify if they are still able to double jump.

- Replaced turn marble with two sided peebdoof coin so that it is easier to keep track of whose turn it is.

I really want this to get popular enough that actual, skilled chess youtubers start playing this version of the game. Because, like, there is so much strategy in this game. Its wild. The longer i just sit here and think of all the possibilities the more I wanna see people just go ham with this board. Get GothamChess on this shit ASAP.

Peeber is usually so chill and lowkey, so hearing how excited he got to sow off to Zane just makes my heart happy.

I would recommend adding something to the pawns or their starting tiles so you can tell if they've moved yet or not

One idea I have to improve it: only start moving the counter on the second turn. That way the person with the advantage of the first move doesn't also get the first event, making it more balanced between the players

As a lifelong chess player, I am Obsessed! This changes up the chess formula just enough that it isn't unrecognizable but the basic strategies are completely askew in ways that I haven't seen in most chess variants. Chess has already billions of theoretical games, but some games can feel similar. This assures that the game isn't chaos but is almost guaranteed to feel different every time, which is what briefly made me take a break from chance at one point. This version pretty much does make it near impossible to castle (my favorite move) and, even if you could, drastically devalues its viability, but I think the options are still so unique enough that it's a worthy sacrifice. Fantastic job, Peebr!
Also, the Pokémon flavor of this one doesn't actually affect how you need to think about the game which makes it a lot more accessible.

These intros always have the very specific energy of seeing a relative I like after there was a divorce but there was no drama, just two adults who decided they aren't right for each other and the family is very chill about it

I think I'd buy a physical set of this. Ten tiles, a turn marker and board, and a card deck, and you can turn any chess set into this. Might even try and make my own.

The game is incredible, I can see why you were so proud of it. It deserves all the flowers, taking a game like chess and managing to up the difficulty without crossing over into complete absurdity like 4D chess is not easy to do

There's even more strategy in counting the cards in the deck remaining. You can always add more duplicate cards to prevent being able to count what's left and figuring out the odds, but there is also just the merit of the pseudo controlled randomness of having such a small deck to pull cards from. This would actually make a very interesting variation on chess, with everything being user driven even when randomness is involved.

I like giving people the chance to play around rng as much as possible, so an idea for a house rule:

Play with the distortion deck upside down, so that the next event is always known.  You can play to maximize/minimize your risks from it easier, and it would let Zane's love for playing to the gimmick be more of a strategy
