Triple shocks have smoked every elk my family has shot. Never an issue.

I have more than 50 years of hunting under my belt. I have never had a failure with Remington Corelokt, Winchester PowerPoint, or the Barnes Vortex.  I started hunting with the Winchester model 94 chambered in the 30-30. No failures yet. Elk, whitetail, moose, and bear have been harvested within 150-175 yards with great success.

The Barnes Ttsx  in .243 is the best deer round I have ever used. I have shot half a dozen deer with them and all of them dropped immediately and all passed through. Shot placement is key no matter the round

I got into shooting, hunting and handloading about 35 years ago. At the time, I had no clue as to what made a good hunting bullet, much less why. There were so many brands and types, all the various weights for the various calibres, that it was very confusing for a newcomer. Fortunately, an old timer at the local shooting range gave me what I now know was excellent advice. He said to get Nosler Partition bullets and stick with them. He told me that for my .243, to use 100 gr. bullets and for my .300 Win Mag to go with 180 gr. bullets.

Since then, industry has come out with all kinds of new ways to get us to part with our money. "Pinpoint Accuracy!!  Devastating Terminal Performance!! Get Your "Game Atomizers"  Now!!"

And to this day, I can't think of a reason to give up on what has worked superbly for 35 years. I've added a few different cartridges to the arsenal but they all get fed Nosler Partitions.

SSTs out of a 7 rem mag turn into grenades on less than 100 yard shots. Almost lost a good mule deer due to poor performance of the SSTs. Luckily the follow up shot to the neck did the trick. The first shot destroyed the shoulder and hit no vitals due to the bullet disintegrating.

Nosler partitions are absolutely one of the best!

I took a big Doe with the exact 6.5 CM load in Precision Hunter.   It didn’t bleed a drop because it sucked meat into the exit wound and sealed the hole.

Never watched this channel before but i've been there done that many times over and couldn't agree more. Controlled expansion, good weight retention and a bonded core is where it's at on big game but now days it's hard to get people to realize that.

I have taken 6 whitetails up to 140 lbs. field dressed with Hornady SST's 150 grain .308. All one shot kills, 100 yds. or less. None went over 10 yards. Most broke a lower shoulder bone going in or on the off side. I agree game larger than whitetails or maybe Muley's deserve a tougher  bullet. You are right about how accurate they are.

I've use Hornady ammo and bullets, Hornady SST , spire point boattails, interbonds for years and I've never had the two shot any of my animals perfect wound channels, and penetration   everything from pronghorn, mule deer  to Elk none of my animals that ever travel more than fifty yards from where they were shot. But don't take someone's advice on YouTube go out and shoot these bullets for yourself

Always had luck with the SSTs. My sister dropped a nice 8pt with a 95gr SST from her 243. Only deer I've lost was one I shot a little far back on and it ran across the road. Found it the next day after getting permission, but the coyotes or wolves found it first.

I used the 165 sst in my 308 on 2 deer. A doe at 30 yards and the bullet completely fragmented on the shoulder but the fragments made it into the vitals and she dropped in her tracks.  Second was a big buck that field dressed out at 190 pounds.  He was was 150 yards and the bullet performed perfect.  Went in the last rib and exited out of the side of the neck on the other side.  Impact velocity definitely plays a huge roll in performance which is why I chose the 165 over the 150

In GA, most of my shots will be under 100 yards. I won’t shoot any ballistic tips. I use a bonded round lead tip in my 308.  It’ll be fine for 300 yards as well. I’ve never actually shot a deer with a projectile that underperformed. I would be mad as hell! Lol! However, being in AK, the performance you need is at an even higher level than here. Shot all but the DRT out of a 26" 300wm, all killed Michigan deer over the last few years. Barnes judging by entrance/exit showed little expansion which I kind of expected. Decent internal damage at 150~ yards, almost zero blood trail, all ran a little bit, accuracy was outstanding. Deer season/browning bxr explosive expansion, causing some bloodshot and possible meat damage. All deer dropped in their tracks, and only 1 complete pass through, heart/lungs were soup. Sst all pass through, exit was a bit larger the entrance, decent internal damage. EldX similar results to the sst, wouldn't group better than about 2".

I've killed Whitetails with my 7mm Rem mag using 140gr SST'S and they do work, you just don't get an exit wound. If you run a magnum you have SST'S your best bet is to throttle that cartridge down if you hand load. If it's a 7mm Rem mag, you want to run it like a 7x57mm or 7mm-08. The SST'S are not the greatest but at least with lower impact velocities the bullet has a better chance on reaching the boiler room. Longer ranges those SST'S are not quite as explosive. About 150 yards or so running a throttled down load they start to wise up a bit.
