Just grabbed a 99 Magnum 500 myself for 500 bucks. They are nice to work on. Sheared a Woodruff key between the Flywheel/Magneto and the crank snub.
Sorted that and the timing and it runs really well.

That engine was flooded hard. When you were leaning over it while turning it over I was waiting for it to backfire lol. You came out ahead on that deal. You have yourself a good quad.

Sympatique machine. In France, I have a brend new Linhai 500x 4x4 and it's the same frame in square tube, Mac Pherson in front, same place for the battery. It seems like a copy of this old Polaris. A good machine.
