HARD RELATE to having parents who practically believed secret agents were waiting behind a computer nonstop to steal your money as soon as you enter the first three digits of your credit card into eBay.
For that first question; I know how important it is to teens to get validation and attention of adults they look up to, but from the other side of it being the adult, it’s honestly exhausting to engage with teens because you do have to watch out for them, as the adult, and like Tyler said, if you don’t realize what age they are and then have to look at it in retrospect to see if how you were talking to them was inappropriate, it’s very uncomfortable.
quick thing about young lolitas in comms! a lot of comms (mine included) WILL have an age requirement due to safety and legal reasons. its always your best bet to ask comm mods for more information. if youre too young, dont feel bad! just wait a few years and know that it's nothing personal. it's just for safety :)
I started lolita very young around 12 to 14, and my parents never really allowed me to go to meet ups because of the large age gap between me and lolitas. My parents believed i had to with people around my age (tbh i did not have many friends) but yeah i sort of agree with them. well now i can go to meet ups by myself so im glad i waited time coz now its worth it!
I've literally taken my toddler to meetups dressed up. When she got too fussy I took her out and calmed her and then took her home when she was too sleepy to still be there. I always asked first. There was also a time where a certain child's mother felt she needed attention and was the chaperone for her kiddo...and made every meetup she went to terribly uncomfortable. I literally stopped going to meetups where that minor was present because I couldn't take it. The kid herself? Totally chill and very sweet. Child's mom? A caffeinated badger with a Bump-it and expensive shoes. Sometimes it's not the young'uns that we have to worry about. It's their insecure, normal parents.
