What happens when an invoice enters an enterprise system?

It is tempting to build:

Invoice → OCR → LLM → JSON

But that's not enough for a production system.

An enterprise invoice process needs to understand the invoice, match it against the right contract, validate business rules, handle exceptions, maintain state, provide auditability, and eventually interact with the ERP.

In this session, we build that architecture and answer an important question:

What should AI actually do in a production business workflow?

We use Azure Document Intelligence for document extraction and an AI agent for the part where semantic understanding is valuable — contract interpretation and matching.

Then we deliberately move business policy into deterministic application services.
