On December 13, 2025, I climbed Mount Tsukuba in Ibaraki Prefecture, one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains. It was the ninth mountain I climbed in the list, eight years after my last visit. The cable car takes you right up to the summit, making it a popular mountain for tourists as well as hikers. There are plenty of restaurants around the cable car station, and you can also enjoy sweeping views of the Kanto Plain. Perfect for a casual hike.

The parking lot I used this time was the Municipal Parking Lot No. 3. Parking is 500 yen for a standard car. It can accommodate approximately 140 cars. Restrooms are available. Parking is available from 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM. There are many other parking lots in the area, but be aware that they may fill up quickly during peak periods like long weekends.
