Welcome to Eynsford, one of Kent’s most picturesque and historic villages.

Join me for a peaceful walk through its quiet streets, across the famous ford where the River Darent flows through the heart of the village, and past centuries-old cottages, historic buildings and the magnificent ruins of Eynsford Castle. With no narration or music during the walk, you’ll experience only the natural sounds of the English countryside as another summer morning begins.

Eynsford’s history stretches back over a thousand years. The village is home to one of England’s best-preserved Norman castles, built shortly after the Norman Conquest, while its iconic ford has been a crossing point for centuries. Eynsford also has strong links to Thomas Becket, who is believed to have spent part of his childhood here before becoming Archbishop of Canterbury. Together, these landmarks make Eynsford one of Kent’s most fascinating historic villages.
