I don't understand why you YouTube DJs do these stupid sound tests. Sound is subjective. Plus the sound the listeners hear depends on what they are listening it to. If it's on their phone, closed headphones, ear headphones, monitors...etc. It will all sound different. On top of that. If you claim to be an audio guy, then plug a mic into your camera so people can hear you better when you walk away. I don't care if you have a name on YouTube or if you have been posting for multiple years. That doesn't mean you've been doing it right. I will not take advice from someone who doesn't understand that you need to be mic'ed up when explaining audio to audio people online. And doesn't get that whatever you're reviewing doesn't translate the same audio that you hear live through a media device.
I appreciate your taking the time to make this video to help other DJs. From ~4:25 - 4:56, you labeled which speakers were playing, and that is essential info. After that, I was never certain which speakers were playing at any given moment, so the rest of the video was far less useful for me. If you do other comparison tests in the future, please make sure to always have something on-screen to show which speakers are playing at any given moment. That's especially important if a viewer is scrubbing forward and back in the timeline as without that, there's no way to know, thus completely defeating the purpose of an audio comparison. It would also be good if you let the viewers know what kind of mic you were using either in the video or in the description.
Just purchased the EVOLVE 70's & I'm very happy w/them. Just did a 160 guest wedding at a venue out here in San Jose, CA & the sound w/a column on each side sounded amazing!! I didnt take any video to share unfortunately but I will on the next one. Thanks for sharing & keep rockin'!
My son has been in the music industry as a production manager and is also starting a rental business. He just purchased 3 CDJ3000’s and the DJM V10, he has about $6000 can spend on speakers and we have listened to several brands but are having a hard time picking what want. I like the Evolve 90’s but he likes ETX 15P’s wit RCF 708AS sub. For ease of set-up I like the Arrays. Targeting the small clubs, weddings and corporate event markets, usually less than 300 people.
Did you enable the K12's sub crossover mode? It has a setting in there to cut lows if you're using a sub. I wonder if that's why you were struggling to get more highs out of it.
