Oh, your so lucky that your steering races went in so easy.

I use the BBQ to heat and dry parts. Learned the technique from Allan Millyard. Always someone out there that has done it before. The Allballs headset setup is wonderful. The rod with the filed lip was a great idea to get the tapered races out of the headtube.   1 and 1/4"  pipe will hit the inner sleeve of the bottom bearing and you can drive it on with a couple whacks.

Yep, memories....., we did exactly this into my CB750 (900), put new bushings like this and new bearings into steerings, and also, made front "forks" stiffer, it was much more driveable in high speed!!=) Good Job, youtheman =)

If you slice the old race a bit to make it easy to insert and remove, you can put it on top of the new one and wail on it with a hammer without worries.

Dry Ice works great for cooling down bushings like this.  I use this on fitting clutch starter ring gears onto flywheels.  Super cheap and available at the supermarket.

Good call on changing that bottom washer, it made a very visible difference on the room it gave you up top. So you got swing arm and the tripple tree in. Shes starting to look like a motorbike wahey! :)

Dean, your powder coat will actually get very soft at temps lower than 200 so be sure when you pick it up do not pick it up by the powder coated areas.   run some wires through some of the mounting bosses or something similar so you can pick it up without leaving impressions in the powder coat.

Best cb750 series on the net, hands down. Not sure if you're still following the replies, but if so, can you please explain how you removed the steering bearings (to swap the washers) without damaging them? Thank you!

wow - realizing after watching your install on the race-bearings that previously, almost 30 years ago, I recall using an old pipe in order to press them in. I did it wrong.  Still miss that CB750.  Great vid as always!   ~ S ~
