Six books in a week - you're a reading machine, Nicole! Now that I'm on vacation, I've been too busy with family, friends and book shopping to get much reading down, alas. Glad that you're enjoying John Dickson Carr. He's a personal favorite. I'm glad that the British Library Crime Classics line is starting to re-introduce him to audiences, as older physical copies of his books are rather hard to come by. I've managed to scrounge together a pretty good collection of them over the years, but I'm still missing lots of Carter Dickson/Henry Merrivale titles. As another commenter mentioned below, you might try some of his earliest books by Carr, the short Henri Bencolin series. I believe the BMCC line have published most of those. They're also very good and extremely atmospheric. It Walks By Night, The Lost Gallows, Castle Skull, Murder in the Waxworks and a later capper to the series, The Four False Weapons, are all well worth reading IMO.

Wow, you acquired and read The Judas Window while I was part-way through it and just casually mentioned that it was working for me! Cool! I liked The Black Spectacles a bit more - loved everything to do with the film that gets watched, in the book - but they were both strong JDC entries.
