JoBlo Horror Originals

The 1990s were a special era of formative films for many of us dark-side kiddos. 1993 gave us The Crow, the seminal film for goth kids. Then, this little horror fan with a goth heart was still feeling out of place sometimes, like I hadn't entirely found "my people" just yet. Spring 1996 rolled around, and The Craft just yelled my name. So today, we head back to the '90s and revisit this witchy cult classic.

The Craft is still a guilty pleasure. The atmosphere for me is about as 90's as it gets and instantly takes me back to childhood.

I love how all four girls have an element that corresponds to their personalities. Sarah is Earth, the most grounded and realistic, Nancy is the most passionate and fiery, befitting Fire, Bonnie represents Air, since she sees things that others overlook, and Rochelle is Water, since she tends to go with the Flow, and is gentle.

I remember seeing this in the cinema the same day "TWISTER" opened. The combination of the witch spell climax with the echo of the tornado winds in the next room made for an interesting experience.

The movie itself was Gothic high school fun. Thank goodness the four main girls were likable.

Faruiza Balk was so good in this movie. I was convinced that she wasn't acting in the bedroom scene.

Watched this countless times when I was growing up in the 90's. This movie instantly drew me in upon the very first viewing. It's such a fun movie with a great cast and an interesting premise. I remember having a crush on the leading ladies. I really liked Fairuza Balk's goth girl look but I especially loved me some Neve Campbell. 😍 I think the movie still holds up after all these years. Glad to see it get some love on here.

While not the target audience Mid 20's male. Being a horror fan is what drew me to this film. The Craft was well made and very entertaining so much as I added it to my collection and recently upgraded it to 4K.

Robin Tunney's wig never seemed that convincing to me when I was younger. She had shaved her head for "Empire Records", and had very short hair at the time of auditioning. The director stated that he'd have been happy to have Robin sport her pixie cut, but the executives insisted on an auburn wig.

2020’s THE CRAFT: LEGACY is a sequel (not a remake). It ends with the main lead girl discovering her biological mother and visiting her (played by Fairuza Balk as the same character).

One of my favourite films. Everybody tried that light as a feather stiff as a board trick with their friends as kids didn’t they

My friends and I played “Light As A Feather, Stiff As A Board”, and I swear we lifted the one laying down.

I was a little kid, when my father took me to see the Craft. However, since I was a kid I didn't understand it. But, years later I fell in Love with The Craft. Awesome movie. Punk Rock!!!

"the Craft" is 1 of my favorite witchcraft films. Fairuza Balk was great in it. 1 theory i have about this film is that Nancy,Bonnie&Rochelle are not witches, but energy vampires. Sarah is the only true witch. think about it, the way the other girls were drawn to Sarah(her energy),they didn't have powers till Sarah showed up and how Sarah was able to reclaim her power, rendering Nancy,Bonnie&Rochelle powerless. I say energy vampires because they only had powers because they were siphoning it off of Sarah.

Oh my god, I literally watched this movie for the first time last night! Talk about good timing!

Fairuza Balk is great villain in this one. Also, Neve Campbell is so cute. 💜

Neve Campbell as Julia Salinger in Party of Five (ages 15–20); a highly intelligent, emotionally sensitive teen who struggles to adjust to being an orphan and having more family responsibilities.
