set in 1940s shanghai, kung fu hustle follows a wannabe gangster who gets caught between the notorious axe gang and the supernaturally gifted residents of pig sty alley. this final fight cements sing as a literal-ly legendary figure in cinema, proving that even a "nobody" can touch the clouds if they have the heart of a hero.

Turning the bell into a megaphone to amplify her Lion's roar was surprisingly unexpected. 😂😂😂

I like how they found a way to hurt/possibly kill the beast before we get to the chosen one

I love how casual and respectful the conversation was before they begin to beat the ever living tar out of each other.

This movie is so dope. They should've hired stephen chow to direct dragon ball evolution. I know Chinese kung fu and Japanese anime are different genres, but dude would have delivered. He gets it.

This movie is a work of art.

Kung Fu is best paired with comedy and this film pairs those things brilliantly. The landlady is fantastic.

This is a good example of show dont tell. They showed us the beast is cowardly by giving up and suddenly stabbing when they're not ready. Thats probably how he survived several near death duel

Even you know it is a comedy but you can feel every punch and you actually worry about the heroes who are desperately fighting for their lives.

Loved this movie, my 2 fav parts of this scene were when the husband spun in the air to prevent his arm from breaking and the wife breaking the bell to amplify her roar. It really blended anime elements of creative fighting with classic martial arts movies

Got the VHS, DVD, Streamed version, and TV version. Movie just topnotch and aging like fine wine. RIP "Beast"

the quintessential moment is when the attacks start twisting along their path- and when the husband catches the wife and spins her to relieve the motion. That's the culmination of their emotional hook. it's like - yes we want them to live and or win but we also get it if they dont - that is to say we know the game they play can be a deadly sport.

The correct alias for the landlord and landlady would be "Yang Guo" and "Xiao Long Nu" which is taken from a wuxia novel called "The Return of the Condor Heroes."

The editing, the cinematography, the action, the sound effects, the practical effects, the very brief cgi moments (where needed), this movie is just 100% top notch pinnacle of Hong Kong action cinema!
