step 1: be unemployed

Honestly I’m so impressed by the Hermitcraft Recap team. Every episode, every week? That’s a whole other level

The fact that the Hermits themselves can 't keep up with all the videos tells you everything you need to know. Hermitcraft is the perfect size. It's just small enough so that everyone knows everyone, but big enough so that it's impossible to keep track of everything. You'll literally never run out of content being a HC fan

Maybe they call it hermitcraft because to watch every video every posted, you'd have to become a hermit.

It's crazy how season 1 alone is almost as long as One Piece 😭

i severely underestimated just how much content they make. my first guess was between 400 and 800 hours of content. seeing they make more than that in just ONE SEASON??? baffling.

BTW most lost episodes have been archived and as such are still viewable.

In fact the only vanilla Hermitcraft episodes that are truely lost are half of Biffa's episodes and Juicetra's season 2 episode 11.

I have comments on almost all Hermitcraft wiki episode pages covering unavailable episodes on YouTube with a link to where you can watch the episode.

For me watching hermitcraft is kinda like watching Doctor Who, there's no wrong way to watch, but it's harder to watch all of Doctor Who(nearly 63 years) than hermitcraft. Etheir way it's down to pick a point and go from there. If you choose to start from the very beginning you are a madlad in the truest form

21:29 as a chronic viewer of Grian, it feels like his average episode length is significantly skewed. His videos are usually in the 20-25 minute range, but as stated in a previous comment, his world tour was included, which was one crazy video (I watched it in one sitting but on double speed). The length of that one doubled the average length of videos, as this was based off of basic mean and not one of the outlier resistant average methods. Medians are much more commonly used for more intense scientific analysis, as they are arguably the most resistant to outlier skewing.

No hate, actually enjoyed the video, I just recently had to take statistics classes for my degree and remembered having this exact conversation in class with something like strawberries or something like that.

I did a bit more maths and calculated the total rate of episodes released per day for s10 (~ 1.26 hrs per day), then I graphed out the different number of hours watched per day. (Slightly different to what you did at the end (continuing with the same hrs/day to account for extra episodes rather than increasing rate))

1 hour per day - can’t catch up

8 hours per day - catch up after ~ 916 days

12 hours a day - catch up after ~ 575 days

12 hours a day at 2x speed - catch up after ~ 271 days

When you said that you have been watching less and less mumbo, I was surprised. I feel like he's really been hitting his stride this season, and these are my favorite of his.

"A person who think all the time   has no things to think about except thoughts"

I can’t believe docs average was under 1 hr until this season

I love how my first thought upon seeing the title was "no, some former hermits have deleted their videos"
I discovered this when i first became a fan and wanted to watch some different POVs of the backlog i was watching and found they weren't there anymore

Now I’m wondering what the absolute minimum you could trim down that watch time to while still being able to follow major plot lines, events, storylines and all the modern references.Basically create the ultimate playlist on consuming Hermitcraft content as a whole.

POVs i recommend per season since I've started watching HC (season 5 )

Season 5: Cubfan (that island transformation is mind-blowing) Xisuma ( the OG volcano base )

Season 6: Mumbo he had done a lot. (Base wise. If you want Civil War perspectives i recommend Grian ( G team), Xisuma (Team STAR) ,and Cubfan ( Weapon's Dealer)

Season 7: Cubfan (The pyramid, to Xibalba), Tango (Toon Towers is such  a unique concept)

Season 8: Boatem ( it's self explanatory)

Season 9: Scar ( Scarland is just special) Etho ( Decked Out 2 gameplay), Vintage Beef (TCG development).

Season 10 SmallishBeans (Season 10 is his season)

I don't think I'll watch all of Hermitcraft available, but I'm completely caught up on Grian, who started in Season 6, and I've seen a decent amount of content from Mumbo Scar, Bdubs, and Docm77.
I think the best approach is to pick your favorite Hermit, and maybe jump to other hermit's content if they appeal to you. And if you want a consistent throughline from Season 1 to today, Xisuma is probably best.

23:05 The watchers

my friend did a thing called "the hermitathon" in which they watched every episode of a different member each season live on twitch. They watched seasons 1-4 before they gave up because it was like a week straight of streaming.

Great video! I made or helped with most of the episode pages on the Hermitcraft Wiki, so I want to clarify some things.

While many videos from Biffa, Spumwack, and others are truly lost, many others do have archives up on the Internet Archive, so while they're not available on Youtube, those curious could still watch some of them.

For any Hermit who never released official numbered episodes, we simply labelled any existing content we could find as an episode. This means that for Dewtroid's Season 2, and xB's Season 6 (which you didn't include, I think), for example, we labelled streams as episodes, while we wouldn't do this for any other Hermit.

Cleo's Season 5 stream was only counted as an episode since she made an episode 9 and 11, but only that stream in between, so even though it wasn't officially treated as an episode, I labelled it as such because it's the closest thing I could find to be her "episode 10." If someone were to find that she deleted or privated an actual episode 10, I would replace the livestream with that new episode.

Anyways as we finish up making the pages for all the spin off and modded seasons, I'm probably gonna start doing the plots for these episodes, so uh... thank you for letting me know that I'm gonna be spending the next hundreds of days of my life watching and writing about Hermitcraft on the wiki! Nice to have a by the numbers representation of how I'm gonna waste the next few years of my life /pos

Great video!
