This is one of my top Bond battles. I love how the American, British, and Soviet sailors selflessly fight together to prevent global devastation. It's 1941 all over again!

That's one thing that's missing from modern Bond films...massive set scenes with tons of extras.

In praise of Ken Adam, one of the most important and influential production designers in cinema history. He stated that Stanley Kubrick secretly lit this set.

"That armor plating must be inches thick!  We'll never get through it!"
"Let's get to the armory."
"What do you recken to find there?"
"A nuclear missile."
"A nuclear...hey wait!"

IMO, the funniest exchange in the entire movie

Rest in Peace Jeremy Bulloch. Most just know him as Boba Fett from Empire Strikes Back. But he also played a submarine member in these scenes, storming the armored upper sub hangar deck right behind the leader in the white shirt and gets gunned down before the flame thrower scene. He was a charming guy without airs and graces. I never forget how I ate Pizza with him on a SW convention 1983 in Frankfurt Germany. Thanks for the nice memories Jeremy.

All these years later and I still don't know what those guys in the jeep thought they were doing.

This has to be THE GREATEST Bond battle ever! I just love it when the captain of the U.S sub says “a nuclear missile. Hey wait!”

This incredible set was built in what was referred to as the 007 Stage at the Pinewood Studios in England.
To the best of my knowledge, there was not a single blue-screen or computer generated effect in this entire sequence. The practical effects, set and live-only filming were simply incredible.

may be the first and only time we see bond actually being a military leader. and living up to the title of "commander Bond"

FUN FACT: Carter is played by Shane Rimmer, who did the voice of Scott Tracy in Thunderbirds.

Just love that the British go for the Sterling Guns and the Americans go for the M16s such a thing as familiarity with weapons.

Let us not forget the sacrifices of the brave men, Soviet, American, and British.

I’m glad to see that the villains didn’t hold the idiot ball for long. I mean at first the good guys scored some good hits with the hand grenades but then the villains realized: Hey we have those too.

  It’s like that scene in Dark knight rises where the cops say they lost Batman cuz he’s got a lotta firepower & the senior officer incredulously asks: And you don’t?
