It's not a drain plug.  It's actually made for the fluval gravel vacuum to hook up to.  It's the return inlet for the water to go back into the filter after passing through the vacuum filter.

Running an FX4 on a heavily stocked 75 gallon Mbuna tank. Currently three clown loaches and 18 Mbuna in the tank. It has been great so far!

Dude, I just stumbled across your channel.... I have been keeping fish for nearly 20  years, this video was perfect! You literally said every single pro and con I have for these filters!

I am a sucker for an Eheim Classic 2262...just a big bin with no bypass! Personally my favourite setup is an Fx6 stacked with mech media, with the intake about an inch from the bottom to get all the detritus, then I have the eheim classic 2262, with the intake half way up the back wall, loaded with marine pure on the bottom 65%, the an egg crate layer, then about 15% carbon, another egg crate when the rest is purigen. I have the flow on the 2262 dialed back to about 70% of max.....

Perfect clarity, perfect parameters and the water is moving so fast I don't need a uv.

Also for the people saying "it's not a drain valve" it actually is, if you read the instructions, it actually says that for intermittent "quick cleaning" you can shut off the pump, connect a hose to the outlet/inlet, and use water pressure from the tank to push the water backwards through the Fx6 which clears all the heavy debris from the bottom of the canister without having to take it apart.

The SECONDARY function is as the inlet from the vacuum...... Just thought I should put that out there..... The guy in the video is actually correct when everyone tried to correct him 😂😂😂😂

Love your product reviews. Very balanced as always. Would like to see the 407 compared to the FX2. You should actually do product development for these companies. I find they get a lot of things right but there is always something missing in even the best products, suspect the designers are not hobbyists.
