I love how you can find the front or back during salvage missions so technically you could get it for free

Removing the midsection and merging both bits of ship together to see how it would look was the very first thing I did to the modular freighter. Cute snub ship with lots of potential.

I love this ship, it was my favourite of all the new additions.

Me too.  The look of the ship changes more than I expected it to with the removal of the spine.

I redesigned this with a planet landing version and a merge block for a jump ring interface. Its very good in a game where service blocks allow you to store and park mission specific ships. In fact, every ship should be mostly specialized like this.

I like the stubby freighter

You could just make the landing pad tilt up to launch it like a rocket, maybe with some detachable boosters on the side if you're on a higher gravity world. With Warfare 3, you could put a bunch of torpedo and/or missile launchers* pointed sideways for devestating salvos. The turning ability of guided missiles is currently unknown.

I wanna see Splitsie or Captain Jack do a series where they're hauling enough parts to build a self sustaining base, a rover, & 2 atmo gunships/troop carriers, but they & a partner get ambushed by pirates, the ship & cargo get split up, some going to the main character, some going to the partner, both halves of the ship coming down relatively intact. Now both have to use what's at hand, & find a way back into space to escape the pirates, drama & revelations ensue.

I went a different way.  I started out with a Haul frame J and added a detachable section that is almost a copy of the Heavy Module Freighters cargo spine and tail section.  I call my bow section "Mirelurk" because it reminds me of a mirelurk from Fallout 4.  The aft section is called King.  The two combined have like 30M liters of H2, 4M liters O2, 5 jump drives, 40 batteries, 4 small reactors, 3 O2/H2 gens, 3 H2 engines, around 50 small cargo containers.  Numerous connectors. refineries, assemblers, etc.   If your are interested I posted both on the steam workshop  Look for "MIRELURK" and "KING"

A "semi stubby" modification might be interesting too. With 2 or 3 containers so it's shorter than the direct freighter conversion, but longer than the 1 container stubby.

It could be the balance between capacity and ability to fly on planets.

I repurposed this ship into a space-only fueling tanker. Replaced hydrogen thrusters with ions, added H2 tanks on both sides. As for expensive modifications - it needs only a Prototech jumpdrive instead of its original H2 tank installed, and some more small reactors, obviously. Installing Prototech gyros makes no practical sense since the ship remains slow and bulky anyway.
The bow is conveniently designed to add all types of connections: piston-extended, catwalk-over-connector, large-small connectors, and even small platforms for tiny vessels to park and refuel on.

I think this is actually the MOST modifiable ship you can buy
The space underneath is perfect for more jump drives, more storage, a gravity collector and much more. It's my go-to ship to buy due to this

Hey man! I know creators often undersell themselves, or worry that their content isn’t appreciated.

I wanted to tell you that your videos have been my “comfort channel” during some rough times recently.

Theres no over the top editing, no annoying, over exaggerated youtube personality. Just easygoing videos with a narrator who clearly loves the game as much as his viewers. Relaxed, calm tours of ships in a game that brings me peace. Really appreciate your stuff.

i had 2 on official i put 2 large shipping containers on one one with minimal production and cargo the other was a jump pod a large reactor and 4 additional jump drives. the other was 2 modual freighters welded together so i could fit 4 of those crates on it. it had a jump pod 2 5 large cargo storage pods and a production pod. that ship was insane.
it was a fairly popular NPC ship for ppl to modify into base ships tho. i saw a few variations, most made the storage integral to the hull  one used the structural platforms on the spine to turn it into a carrier.

I love when you do these videos ❤

I grabbed one and converted it to a fuel tanker. Can't function in gravity, but they can hold about 5-7 large Hydrogen tanks as well as space for 02/h2 generators and a handful of AI/timer blocks for automation. Over all, this is a very easy ship to modify, certainly lending to it's name.

This smallest variant is my favourite to be honest, but I can see as well whole production system built in the middle.
That was very inspiring video. Thanks!

Seriously grateful for the reviews.

The observations are very keen(lol) especially between the visual build styles.

Can’t wait to see the rest of the ships and the changes with warfare 3.

Thanks for the hard work. See you out in the void.

Would you consider doing a video of the Mini Merchant ship? I picked one up from a station in my survival save, and it's a great little ship for travel and trade. It's not the most powerful, but it's a great "starter" space ship than can travel from planetary to orbital stationsv with a little weight, and if you are daring or brave enough, bringing much more cargo down from orbit. Just remember to use it's Parachutes to help slow it down. The Hydro engines can do only so much, especially under load.
