If you are buying the Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ and are confused about Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), this video is for you.
I went through the complicated BaaS calculations, loan structures, battery EMI and the famous ₹3.75/km figure so you don't have to.
In this video, I answer the most important Mahindra BE6 BaaS questions in simple language — without long spreadsheets, complicated maths or confusing financial jargon.
This is a simple 10-question BaaS FAQ for anyone considering a Mahindra BE6 SportEQ.
WHAT YOU'LL UNDERSTAND IN THIS VIDEO:
• What exactly is BaaS / Battery as a Service?
• Why is the BE6 SportEQ available at a much lower upfront price with BaaS?
• Am I buying the battery or renting it?
• Who actually owns the battery under BaaS?
• Where does the ₹6,975/month battery EMI come from?
• What does ₹3.75/km actually mean?
• Is ₹3.75/km a real pay-per-kilometre charge?
• Does BaaS actually save money or simply make the EMI lower?
• Why would someone choose BaaS if the total interest can be higher?
• What happens to the car loan and battery loan?
• What happens if I want to sell my BE6 bought under BaaS?
MAHINDRA BE6 BAAS EXPLAINED
The Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ BaaS programme uses separate financing for the vehicle and battery. For the 59 kWh BE 6 SPORTEQ ONE, Mahindra currently lists ₹11.45 lakh with BaaS versus ₹19.45 lakh for the regular 59 kWh version.
Mahindra also quotes a battery EMI starting at ₹6,975 and an effective usage cost of ₹3.75/km based on an assumed 60 km/day usage.
But there is an important distinction:
BaaS is NOT a pay-per-kilometre subscription.
It is a dual-loan financing structure where the vehicle and battery are financed separately. The customer owns the vehicle and battery, subject to the financing agreement.
So what does ₹3.75/km actually mean?
That's one of the biggest points of confusion around Mahindra BaaS — and this video explains it without complicated calculations.
BE6 BAAS vs NORMAL PURCHASE
Should you finance the complete BE6 upfront?
Or should you finance the car and battery separately through BaaS?
A lower EMI does not automatically mean a lower total cost.
We look at the difference between monthly affordability, loan tenure, interest and the overall cost of financing so you can decide which structure makes more sense for you.

Also, I went to the official BaaS page of Mahindra here:

⚠And if you will scroll to the bottom and notice the fine print , it almost explains everything:⚠
- BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) / Dual Loan is a finance product offered by the respective financier and is not a pay-per-use program.
- Approval is solely at the discretion of the finance partner and subject to applicable terms and conditions.
- BaaS prices mentioned are based on a Battery EMI starting at ₹6,975 at an effective usage cost of ₹3.75/km, considering 60 km/day usage and a specific down payment, and exclude charging, maintenance, and repair costs.
- Battery EMI will vary as per battery size, downpayment and tenure. BaaS prices are exclusive of charger cost, road tax, insurance, TCS, and other applicable statutory levies.
