This is the first time I've seen someone talk about this topic. I liked it like it’s something different. I'm a very big animal lover who has always cared for the street animals. I've never kept pets except birds.

20:37 so basically dogs are warned against to keep because they’re too loving. The reason humans form such strong bonds with dogs is because we evolved with them. It’s in our and the dogs’ evolutionary psychology to bond with each other. This is the meaning of “man’s best friend”.

Amazing. I have over 300 pigeons in Chicago

Dogs help people with disabilities and help with emotional support for me. Inshallah, I will get another dog. All animals are created by Allah. While I am Shia, Allah gives us purpose with dogs. There are plenty of clothes for kids and people in the world. Some of these statements your saying doesn't make sense

A brilliant follow-up to your previous lecture on pets—thank you for giving such a balanced analysis on dogs this time around.

Far from just being "okay" with dogs, Islam highlights their vital roles throughout our tradition. From guarding the Sleepers of the Cave in Surah Al-Kahf to their noble function in hunting and securing our livestock and homes, there's no denying the elevated status of "man's best friend," notwithstanding their najāsah status. That said, keeping them inside the house as roommates is a different story altogether!

Regarding their perception of the unseen world, they might even play a role in protection against jinn, as reflected in the narration:

"When you hear the barking of dogs and the braying of donkeys at night, seek refuge in Allah, for they see what you do not see."
— (Sunan Abī Dāwūd, Al-Adab Al-Mufrad, Musnad Aḥmad)

Thank you very much for your clear explanation! I am not Muslim, but I admire Islam and the life of Muhammad. We are an old couple (I am very old to have children). Do you think that this rule also applies to old people? We owned two dogs that are useful companions. In part because we live on the outskirts of the town. And dogs warn us about strangers while keeping away those with bad intentions.

Bani Adam” (The Children of Adam), by Saadi Shirazi from his Gulistan (1258).

Human beings are members of a whole,
In creation of one essence and soul.
If one member is afflicted with pain,
Other members uneasy will remain.
If you have no sympathy for human pain,
The name of human you cannot retain

I think that the people who claim they love cats and dogs really do. I believe they feel guilty in life, and they are incapable of giving love to their fellow humans, so they take refuge in this very disturbing trend, mostly in the Western World. Their so-called LOVE is the result of an egoistic approach to life. I cannot understand how these people can be quiet when facing genocide and the killing of babies in Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, Yemen, etc., and claim that they are still human. I refer every one to this poem called Bani Adam” (The Children of Adam), by Saadi Shirazi from his Gulistan (1258).

Would be interesting to know where to hold the pigeons or birds in general. I thought always that having flying animals in a cage, is against the animals natural life.

Thank you Sheikh
