Y’know what I bought a fake Beauty of Joseon cleansing oil once and I absolutely loved it (learned it was fake months later because of the logos and misspelling and everything) and because I loved it so much I bought another one… Imagine my surprise when I had a severe allergic reaction because the real one has walnuts in it.

Speaking of airport security, here's my most memorable experience with them. A couple years ago I went on a trip with a bunch of my high school students to Ireland and England (from the US). Throughout our trip, one child kept gathering apples - I think mostly from bagged lunches and other kids who didn't want their own, but he'd also wind up with apples when we didn't have bagged lunches. We rode a tour bus for much of the trip, and every time I'd look back to see how the kids were doing, there he'd be eating a whole new apple. I'd see him getting to the end of one apple and think surely he was finished for a while... Only to look back a few moments later and he'd be started on a whole new apple.

Well, when it came time to get to Heathrow and board our plane home, the security check was generally smooth for the whole group, until I see security pull this apple child to the side to examine his bag further. I went to stand with him and what did I see on the X-ray screen? Why, smack dab in the middle of his suitcase was a large collection of apples. Amazingly, security let him through with them all.

We made it all the way back home to the US, had all our luggage and were almost home free until US customs asked if we had anything to declare. Nobody did and we were all through customs when I realize this kid has been pulled aside again and they're going through his suitcase. He'd been very honest and told them about his apple hoard. US customs confiscated those damn apples which he'd journeyed with across Ireland, Wales, England and the Atlantic Ocean. It was heartbreaking. He graduated the next year and my gift to him was a large bag of honey crisp apples 🍎
