I'm Quitting Genshin (and you should too)

This is probably my longest scripted video so far, and I haven't had a video require this much editing since my Sonic Unleashed video, and on this scale since my Majora's Mask video from 4 years ago. So I am a little rusty when it comes to both making long form scripted videos, and videos that require actual editing. So I'm sorry if the video isn't the best. Also, this video was supposed to come out a few days earlier, but kept getting pushed back because of things happening.

I decided on making a video about this because I saw the overall Genshin Community was angry at the latest patch. I was already feeling kind of disillusioned with the game, but seeing the community actually angry, and actually looking back at the game's past, I just realized that the game won't change, and that I should just go play other games that actually make me happy. That was the reason I included all those game recommendations at the end of the video, so that if anyone else was feeling the same as me, then they could find something that they would probably enjoy more.

Oh yeah, because you can't redo quests, I had to use cutscene compilations for footage. That is in addition to the spiral Abyss video I used because I don't have enough newer units(or patience with the resin system) to clear it. Here they are:

Spiral Abyss Footage I used:
🔥Mavuika & Nicole Hexerei | Zibai WITHOUT ...

Aranara Quest Footage:
Aranyaka World Quest Complete Playthough (...

Liyue Archon Quest Footage:
GENSHIN IMPACT Chapter 1 (ACT 1 & ACT 2) A...

The Dottore Cutscene I used:
Nahida uses Gnosis to summon the FOUR SHAD...

The Cyno and Tighnari Cutscene used:
Collei Visits Mondstadt (Cutscene) | Gensh...

13:05 let's not forget that those talent materials are only available on specific days of the week

Worst part is not lack of skip button or anything else, but the community that tells you to stfu any time you bring any critisism

I remember how fun it was so play in the beginning because it felt so new and cool. I’ve only been playing for a year and I’m already losing it.

Pay 200$ for a character that just presses E and disappears for an entire rotation

Even the stamina system is made to make us uncomfortable.

what's crazy is that it isn't even because Genshin is an "old" Hoyo game, Honkai impact 3 has a skip button, fucking GGZ had a skip button, it even had a stamina overflow system, ZZZ and even HSR now has a skip button, it's literally JUST Genshin.

crazy how Zenless, game made by THE SAME COMPANY solved these basic problems yet genshin is still years behind

I hate that Jeht's mouth didn't even move a single time when she was talking on the recent archon quest. THIS IS A MULTI BILLION DOLLAR GAME BTW.

Quit Genshin over a year ago after playing it since 2021. Everything you spoke about are the exact reasons i quit. Paradise turned into Purgatory. I was satisfied with my characters and builds, so it felt as if i was just reliving the same boring day over and over. Nothing ever changed and what little quests there were became boring.

What makes it even worse is that both hsr and zzz (other games by the SAME COMPANY) HAVE SKIP CUTSCENE BUTTONS

@linaquiet4606 4 months ago

The funny part is, if this video ended at 13:30 could've been a rant from 1.0 and you wouldn't even notice. This game's 'evolution' has been so minimal it's barely noticeable. 😭

Even Visual Novel have Skip Button 🗿

@nihilismm-d8p 3 months ago

genshins refusal to add a skip button is simple: their very own greed, lmao. By not adding it, they have statistics showing that they have thousands of players spending their time in the game. And of course, those numbers are good for bragging about their game to others

11:41 It cannot be stressed enough how disappointing it is to get a charcter you want, knowing it takes like 3 months to get them to a satisfying level

I once saw someone make an excuse that the world quests (even the major ones) aren't voiced is because much fewer players do them, and it's not worth it, EVEN THO THE LATEST SUMERU QUEST REQUIRES YOU TO DO THE MAJOR ONES FOR THE AQ TO MAKE SENSE. and these same people call genshin a "story game" to excuse the lack of a skip button

@crowing3886 3 months ago

Remember when genshin had that player feedback questionnaire about Qol a few years ago with dozens of questions regarding a skip button, loadouts , time gating farming by literal days and etc? Then they implemented none of it? That's when i quit and refuse to return.

Devs are literally playing in your face and pointing and laughing...

At some people genshin players gotta have some self respect for themselves 😒

I feel like genshin, and most gacha games in general, are best to be played with "all in" type of mentallity until you burn out.
Basically you download it, get hooked on it, beat the main story, explore every region, pull whatever you want then quit.

Long term you start to notice the issues and realize how bad and plain stupid some things are.
So I don't think they are bad games, but its best to treat them as singleplayer completed games and gaslight yourself, because in reality they will never be completed, all ur characters will fall out of meta, the story will keep being breadcrumps and not anything of importance, and the changes will be insegnificant.

The whole "will they won't they" relationship with a billion dollar gacha company isn't worth anyone's time.
Play the game, its free, have ur fun, moment it starts feeling like a chore or boring, uninstall and move on.
