Good

Wonderful! Not bothered whether it is goan or else🎉

I would call it  Portuguese styled Goan houses no doubt about  it .

Dear madam,

Firstly a very nicely done video indeed. Kudos on that.

Being an architect from Kerala, I would also like to mention that while it is understandable to downplay Portugal’s influence on everyday Goan life simply because it is too overhyped and over-emphasised nowadays, it also can’t be fully ignored because as an example of the lack of native or ‘Indian’ furniture that you had mentioned, even basic everyday furniture like chairs and tables have gotten their present-day Malayalam names ‘Casera’ (chair) and ‘Mesa’ (table) directly from Portuguese. And we in Kerala especially in Calicut have had a very bad relationship with the Portuguese, to put it mildly!

There’s of course no doubting the role of native craftsmen, carpenters, builders, artists etc in shaping traditional Goan houses and buildings as we know them today, but I do feel that many elements of Goan houses like tall windows, projecting small balconies, external colour combinations etc to name a few, do very much owe their origins to an almost equal mix of Portuguese, Goan (read tropical) and other local cultural and climatic influences.

Cheers from Calicut, Kerala

Thank you RDX, such a cultured and ordered narration by Heta. 🙌

The Chinese have a custom of placing  stone lions on either side of their main door, as protectors and for good luck.

Goa was predominately ruled by the Kadamba Empire which is the Kannada empire. Hence, Uttar Kannada district & Goa closely resembles it.

Furniture is also Portuguese ,  , , mixed with Goan ,its Called Indo , Goa and the island of mumbai was part of the Portuguese ,so it is not That design came from Mumbai …designs were evolved from the Portuguese culture  , indian craftsmen’s ethnicity.
One is a goat n one is a Lion . … just because a Lion which is the most kingly figure doesnt make it a temple ,,, vijaynagara temples dont hv sny lions go chk it in Vijanagara …
